Stanford Transcript

Hello:

In the admissions page in Stanford they ask for "2 official copies mailed to the Math Department as well as electronic versions uploaded in the online application)". Do they mean two original documents? Or can I just photocopy the only original copy that I got from my school. Problems is that I live far away from my school and can't go ask for additional copies. Is this a deal breaker?

I would expect that an official copy does not mean a photocopy, but email them and ask.

I know it was kind of a stupid question. It just seems like an odd petition because out of all the schools I am applying to this is the only that actually asks for official transcripts mailed to them. That sucks...

I live far away from my school. It will be very hard for me to be able to do it, but I'm going to try. I will call the university offices tomorrow and see what I can do. Hope Ill be able to do something before they on christmas break.

Hopefully, it should all be fine. You can usually order transcripts by mail or fax through the school's Registrar's office. If you are very lucky, the Registrar allows you to request official transcript copies online. Nonetheless, there might be a fee, perhaps $5-$10 (my undergraduate institution does this), per official copy depending on the school, which is a pain. Also, definitely scan an official copy for the application.
