Yale just had a visitor day with 7 admits. They may sent more if those decline (I have a couple friends who went). Columbia has at least one admit, though it may be unofficial (friend of a friend has been admitted). Wish I could say it was me.Thomas wrote:Has anyone been accepted to Yale or Columbia pure math yet? I have been accepted by UC Boulder and RPI, but haven't received financial information, or official department acceptance packets. My spring break is coming up next week - should I try to make plans to visit these schools, or is this arranged and coordinated by the department once they figure out their funding situation?

How do I stop myself from checking my emails/application status/GC/this forum every second?

Haven't heard anything personally from either Yale or Columbia (pure math), but a (also pure math) friend of mine heard back from Columbia. I don't know if it was an acceptance or rejection.Thomas wrote:Has anyone been accepted to Yale or Columbia pure math yet? As far as the probabilities are concerned, it would be great if they misidentified my score.

Has anyone been rejected by University of Arizona after skype (or phone) interview with prof. Kennedy? I just end my interview few hours ago, and I just want to make sure that if anyone was rejected after this procedure. Thanks and good luck to everyone!

Just sent off emails inquiring about the status of my application to both Caltech and Berkeley. Hopefully they decide to put me out of my misery sooner rather than later.

if we dont hear anything from UMD AMSC, I'm pretty sure we can take that as a sign that we're informally waitlisted.

I called them on Wednesday. They said they were still processing the applications and would be working on the applications in the next two weeks, although they had already sent out SOME first-round offers.wickerfurniture wrote:if we dont hear anything from UMD AMSC, I'm pretty sure we can take that as a sign that we're informally waitlisted.

Bizarre. How are they still processing applications this late... I can see maybe processing further information requests, but they just had us upload those on the ASF anyways. Never mind. My status got updated on the application website. Got my rejections all out of the way today. Here I come UIUC. Peace out, everyone!!! (:

I have an official letter of admission on Feb 5 with just a TA offer. I haven't heard from anything about a fellowship, except for the summer REGS program, so I suppose I am a counterexample. I hope everyone hears soonmath_applicant wrote:Thanks marco! So I just got a 16000 CHF fellowship for Masters in Math at EPFL, Switzerland. It pains me thinking about turning it down because of the opportunity to study intensive French and the advanced math courses I could possibly take. I have only heard from CMU, got rejected by Brown DAM my dream school, and still waiting for Cornell CAM and Columbia APAM. Not that I'm saying that I don't like to attend CMU but the prospect of having a higher chance of getting into Brown after a masters at EPFL is making me crazy thinking about what ifs!
Any thoughts on this, guys??

For anybody who's worried about the U Washington (Seattle) Pure Math results, I have received an email from Prof. Dan Pollack saying that I am on their shortlist and am about to receive their official offer in a few more days.
Re: Fall 2013 Application Sweat Thread
Holy crap Eowyn, you could be 9/10 after all this is over... that's insane for an international applicant. Congrats.
Re: Fall 2013 Application Sweat Thread

Re: Fall 2013 Application Sweat Thread
And I didn,'t make it past the shortlist at UIUC ....so sad. I officially have gotten nothing but rejections lately....given that I haven't heard from anyone else informing me I'm on the waitlist or anything, I've given up hope that anything good will follow.....I guess I'm going to LA...

Re: Fall 2013 Application Sweat Thread
@Legendre: congrats.
@Eowyn: You will become a legend on this site. 9/10 for an international applicant.
@UMD AMSC applicants: I think their admission strategy is one of the worst for a top 25 school. They have not send a single rejection till now, not even to the people who didn't get the further questions and I don't think they do so till April.
@transfinite(anyone else waiting to hear from UIC?): Another admit on GC for UIC. That too for applied math. And no word for me. Sigh.

I'm pure math, but I haven't heard from UIC. A friend of mine was admitted yesterday. Has anyone been rejected?
Man, I really thought we would hear a lot of decisions today. Just a rejection from Berkeley for me. :-/

UCSD send out emails at exactly 11:55 local time again.
CSME. The email mentioned "Mathematics program majoring in Mathematics". Rejected. 6/6. Add Maryland to that 7/7. I don't know what I did wrong, but I should be a perfect case study on what not to do in your graduate applications.
Edit: Is anyone else still to hear back from UCLA?

Same status as yours. Right below it, there is a decision field that says "Referred to College for Review". Thank you... but honestly, I feel that much credit goes to my recommenders... my grades are not bad... but at one point of time I never felt I'll make it to a single school. And in the end, whichever place we end up in, we must make the most of the opportunities that come our way and try to be as happy as possible... and believe that whatever happened, happened for the best...
Re: Fall 2013 Application Sweat Thread
I really think that next week is going to be crucial. I hope schools finally make their move and accept or reject their applicants.
