Tennessee Application question

Hey all,
I didn't see a place to upload a personal statement on the University of Tennessee (Knoxville) application when I submitted. Is there something I'm missing here-seems kind of odd.

I'm not sure about the Tennessee application in particular, but somtimes schools want you to mail in a printed copy of your SOP. Perhaps that is the case in this instance.

Did you email the graduate secretary/coordinator? I'd recommend doing that.

for those of you following, I checked and no personal statement is required, except for when you apply to the chancellor's fellows program which requires a 250 word essay.

Hi everyone,

You can email your personal statement to the department and they will add it to your application. This also applies for a CV or resume.

It's not required, but it should help with your assistantship application.

Has anyone received a funding offer from UTenn yet? The secretary said we should hear by early March and if we don't hear by March 15 then we didn't get it...

Pam said the funding might run late. If you don't hear by 3/15, it doesn't necessarily mean you didn't get funding, it's that the committee is running late. If you're really interested in going to UTK, you can email her and let her know and she should be able to expedite the process for you.

I also wonder if it's taking more time because of the new Chancellor's Fellowship program... so they have to take that into account with the teaching assistantships.

I e-mailed her last Friday and she said that this week we would find out... so.. yeah.

Yes, I meant the Chanceller's Fellowship,sorry Yes, it is a combination of TA and Fellowship and it totals to 20.000$
It was on the 11th of March, but there was no other post on GC that day, so I think there will be many more.

I was just thinking that if you found out that day, then many more did probably as well since you were a first round offer for it. But they just didn't post on GC.

I wonder if they've already sent out their first round offers for GTA positions as well...

I know that the first round offers for the TA position have not been released yet. I am not sure if the Chancellor's Fellowships were over or not.. I guess all I can do is wait.

I just called UTK and she said that they have already made a small number of offers to people and suggested that I call back every week till April 15th because they get acceptances/declines from students from those offers every week periodically. Therefore whoever did not find out didn't get the first round offers... and I asked her if BY April 15th everyone would know what's going on and she said it could even be later...
