Do I have to apply for MS program seperately?

Post by mathfreak » Thu Mar 07, 2013 4:56 am

Hello,

I'm planning to apply for math graduate school next year. I would like to apply both for MS as well as Phd program (in case I don't get into any Phd program). Do I have to apply for MS and PhD seperately ( and pay the application fee twice) or students applying to Phd programs are automatically considered for Masters program?

Thank you

I would just apply for the PhD program. Usually if you get rejected from the PhD program they automatically put you in the MS applicant pool. I suppose it does differ from school to school, so you may want to ask around to get info on the specific school.

You might have to tell them via email that you wish to be considered for masters. The best thing to do is to email them to ask.
