Hi, is there anyone here still haven't received offer or rejection letters from U Chicago? I'm so depressed because I still get no news from Chicago. They should at least email me a rejection letter.

I haven't. And I kinda stalked your comments and we seem to have a very similar backgrounds and test scores, except your 120 on the Putnam (a joke?). I'm assuming we got waitlisted but I'll be emailing them soon.

yeah I saw you backgrounds. These days I'm pretty stressful because I just got one school which just has a small math department. I find out that top 10 schools are sending offers and I get nothing from those. Did you get any offer from nice schools?

I've got an interview with Vanderbilt this Friday. It's not my top choice (I'd really like to go to Stony Brook or Wisconsin), but a nice back up school. I still haven't heard from MIT, but I'm just assuming that they are sending rejections out after they've filled all of their grad spots.

Good Luck! I think you have a good chance to get into Stony Brook so you don't need to worry about. Have you heard anything from U Chicago?

Just got an email from Chicago. I'm on a "very short waiting list". Apparently the reason for the wait was they were trying to narrow down their original wait list before sending out notifications.

So Chicago replied to your email? Sound great!congratulations! I haven't sent email to U Chicago and haven't receive anything from it neither. Hope I can get into that shortlist too...

I didn't email them they just sent me an email. They could still be sending out emails and cutting down the wait list. Good luck!

I got an e-mail telling me I was on a short waiting list as well yesterday, so I assume they sent out such a notifications to all shortlisted applicants though I obviously have no way of knowing. I have chosen to enroll elsewhere though, and if a few other people do as well then I guess they could expand their shortlist if it turns out to be too short.

The first paragraph of the e-mail reads:
"This email is to let you know that you are on a very short waiting list for admission to our graduate program. I apologize for the late notice. We have cut down our original wait list before sending out notifications, so it really is quite a short list."
in case you are curious. It is followed by some standard stuff (strong applicant pool, hope to admit you, please let us know if you are not interested).
