Hi,
It seems like that everyone say that the test is getting harder and harder.
But, I am confused with what they mean "harder"
It's getting harder because the range of the test is getting broader or the difficulty of each problem is getting harder? (or both)
By the former, I mean recent tests are inclined to contain more advanced materials such as real analysis, complex analysis, "quite" abstract algebra, etc. You know what I mean by the latter, I assume.
Thanks for your reply in advance.
Difficulty of recent tests
Re: Difficulty of recent tests
This is the question to ask! There are a lot of posts on this (and other websites) claiming that the recent tests are more difficult. There is, however, very few constructive explanations available comparing the difficulties in terms of the content and difficulty of the questions.
I posted a similar question some time ago, but I received only one response. It'd be great if someone could respond. Thanks.

Re: Difficulty of recent tests
I'm curious also if somebody would be able to compare very recent tests to the sample GRE (which I think is from 2012?) that ETS published in their practice book. How different has it become (if at all) over the past five years?

Re: Difficulty of recent tests
Hi, I took the October 2016 test. Compared to past tests that I had studied for the exam, I would say that the exam was considerably harder. To be more precise, the test didn't have many "advanced math" questions such as topology, real analysis, modern algebra etc. It was the "non-advanced" problems that made it harder. Many of them required lots of computations in order to solve them - so time was the major issue. I scored 89% (which is a score with which you can be accepted into any school) and I had left about 7-8 questions unanswered (not counting the ones that I answered wrong).

Hi. Could you tell which "non-advanced" sections had the most computationally difficult questions? Calculus, linear algebra, pre-calculus etc?blackadder wrote:Hi, I took the October 2016 test. Hello. How are you? I want some helps. I am very thankful if you would help me. What sources did you study for your exam. My exam is on 16th September. Thank alot
