I am looking at UIUC's Masters program, and I am a little struck by how seemingly uninvolved their application process is (GRE not necessary, no essay, no course requirements...)
Does anyone have experience with UIUC's mathematics department/master's program? It ranks well, but anecdotes would be very helpful.
Thanks.

Re: UIUC Master's
I don't think that is true.
GRE general is required for master program. Also you need a personal statement. It is quite standard like everywhere else.. There are course requirements as well. Make sure you are on the correct websites..
Required materials:

Program requirements:

As an undergraduate here I love the Mathematics department. It has some of the best Professors here who genuinely care about students and it has a very friendly atmosphere. There are also a lot of community outreach promoting Mathematics to the local community as well.
