Hello,
I was wondering for PhD programs in statistics how not taking the GRE subject test in mathematics would effect my application? Most programs I'm looking into do not require the test, and most don't even mention if they recommend it or not. My advisor told me not to take it, and to focus on getting the best GRE general quantitative score instead. Any opinions?
Thanks!

You can take it and not require that your scores are sent to anybody, unless you happen to need it, or your scores are really good, and you want to do that.
