Is it a good idea to waive the right to see our recommendations? Do the recommenders know whether or not I waived my right to see their recommendation? Does it reflect poorly if we do not waive it?
I think it's like an informal rule to waive your rights to see the letters. One of my recommender even said that he will not provide the letter if student does not waive that right. Usually there will be some electronic notifications that the student has waived the rights to see the letter.
