Has Emory send any offer yet? I saw many rejections on gradcafe, but I did not receive any email from them.
Re: Fall 2020 Sweat Thread
Anyone else looking at the two lonely pure math admits to Austin on gradcafe like ???

I think UT Austin sends out offers one at a time, throughout February and March. At least that's the impression I got from the description of their admission process on their website.
Re: Fall 2020 Sweat Thread
Triple rejection gang where you at??
I'd appreciate a link! I've basically been told I'm going to get in, just wondering how long I have to wait for an official offer... It could also be that the gradcafe posts are from people like me who have been "unofficially" accepted (that is, we've been told we're strong candidates).AugmentedSeventh wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2020 9:13 pmI think UT Austin sends out offers one at a time, throughout February and March. official rejections from MIT, Columbia, Harvard, and Berkeley today
perhaps the only appropriate response:

@UT Austin
There were a couple admits/rejections to the Math Ed program at Austin today, which makes me wonder if the stray Pure Math admit today was maybe a typo?? Regarding the one a week to two ago I‘d bet that was an unofficial offer.

Re: Fall 2020 Sweat Thread
Another Columbia APAM acceptance was posted on grad cafe with no subject test, seems their admissions criteria are so odd. For anyone who applied and also hasn't heard back yet, I called today and they told me you should expect to hear back 6-8 weeks from the time your application was sent for review.
Re: Fall 2020 Sweat Thread
Any word from Rutgers or Minnesota? When do you think we'll be hearing from them?
Re: Fall 2020 Sweat Thread
Does anyone heard anything from Univeristy of Utah? I found on grad cafe that some people recieved their offer on Feb 1st, but I didn't recieve any information from UofU. Does this mean that I was rejected?
Re: Fall 2020 Sweat Thread
Cornell and Michigan apparently released some offers, but I guess not all of them. And I'm not sure about the percentage of (already admitted/all offers), or the type of student they admitted. Any guesses?
Re: Fall 2020 Sweat Thread
Very quiet week...
I am starting to worry if I actually finished my applications.

I know someone who was admitted to Cornell this week who (to my knowledge) did not have any kind of special contact with faculty there. However, It’s a sizable department and there have not been many posts about it. Either they will send more or maybe admitted people are realizing that posting on gradcafe only contributes to worry.

I hope that most people don't think that way. The more information we have - the more chances to make a reasonable decision. It's kind of a general fact.

Yes it gives us more information to make a decision, but I think it also turns decision making into unhealthy hypothetical reasoning sessions, which I would not call reasonable. Speaking mostly from personal experience, so maybe it’s just how one uses the sitemishania1996 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 11:05 amusername31415 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 10:47 ammaybe admitted people are realizing that posting on gradcafe only contributes to worry.

Re: Fall 2020 Sweat Thread
I think Utah did a first round of offers. I would very much expect another round sometime in the next few weeks, since it looks like there were only a handful given out on gradcafe. I wouldn't worry about getitng rejected until a bunch of people post rejections on the website, which hasn't happened yet.

I got waitlisted by email from Texas A&M today. Does anyone know if that is an actual waitlist or if it is an automated message for everyone that didn't get in the first round?

Re: Fall 2020 Sweat Thread
Have Penn State and Georgia Tech released their offers? Grad cafe has 1-2 offers for each school, so I am not sure if that's representative of the current state of things.

Several people have stated acceptances to GA Tech here too. Mine still says “to dept for review”.
Re: Fall 2020 Sweat Thread
Oh, I didn't see the acceptances here. Mine says the same. I already emailed them inquiring when I can expect to hear back and they gave a generic answer. If you or anyone else gets to know anything else, let us know.chrisps1992 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 7:35 pmSeveral people have stated acceptances to GA Tech here too. Re: Fall 2020 Sweat Thread
The standard. All applications are currently under review, and you'll get to know no later than April 15. But I emailed them a bit before Jan. 20, and that was way too early I guess.chrisps1992 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 7:40 pmWhat was the generic answer? UCSB has already made the first round of offers, but they'd be definitely making additional offers in coming weeks. That's what the grad advisor told me.

So is this mean a “no” answer? What’s on your AIS?
Besides, I’ve heard from one of their PhD student that the actual deadline is March 1. So is this mean that they will send another round of offer after March?

So I think you are really in the waitlist. Good luck to you. BTW, do they only read a part of the applications? Mine was completed around 1/15 so is it possible that they have not seen my application yet?chrisps1992 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 11:55 pmMine says the same thing, but I got an email saying I would be “strongly considered” if there were declines in their first wave.

If they didn’t reject you I don’t see why that wouldn’t mean you aren’t on the waitlist.SKS2s17fa wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 12:16 amSo I think you are really in the waitlist. Good luck to you. Did anyone apply to UCSD for the PhD in Math Stats concentration? I'm intl. and applied for this track, so just trying to see if they released decisions for this track.

Re: Fall 2020 Sweat Thread
Has anyone here heard from UVA? It looks like they sent out a round of acceptances/waitlists yesterday on grad cafe. I spoke to the GSA in the fall, and he said they sent out decisions in rounds, but I'm worried the second round might just be rejections. Also, if they already have a determined waitlist, what is the purpose of different rounds?
