Undergrad Institution: Public, T15
Major(s): Mathematics
Minor(s): Chemistry
GPA: 4.0
Type of Student: DWM

GRE Revised General Test:
Q: 163 (82%)
V: 163 (93%)
W: 4.5 (81%)
GRE Subject Test in Mathematics:
M: April '19: 780 (75%)
Sept '19: Lower lol :?

TOEFL Score: N/A

Program Applying: Pure Math Ph.D (Geometric Analysis/Differential Geometry), maybe some teaching/D.A. programs?

Research Experience: 1 year Geometric Analysis research at my university (paper to be written, eventually), 1 REU resulting in a paper and a talk, 3 years Physical Chem/Biochem research, if that counts? I at least got a paper from it.
Awards/Honors/Recognitions: Awarded $3000 funding from my university to conduct math research, two-time Goldwater nominee, GPA awards, honor societies (PBK, etc.)
Pertinent Activities or Jobs: Wrote a ~350 page solution manual for my Calc III professor's book, TA for an advanced General Chemistry course. Lectured for the grad topology class here once.
Any Miscellaneous Points that Might Help: 6 Math grad classes by time of applying (Analysis, Topology, Differential Geometry), 9 by graduation. Connections to Princeton: grad students there, one letter writer has a strong relationship w/faculty, attended Princeton's Summer School for Geometric Analysis + have been in correspondence with some faculty since. One famous letter writer (but, using as a fourth, when possible) from UChicago. One well-known writer from my institution, "strong" letter (really, who's to say how strong letters are?).
Any Other Info That Shows Up On Your App and Might Matter: I was a double major in Biochem, hence all the chemistry. I went pretty far in it (1 grad Chem class), almost completed the major. Decided to drop it to a minor to focus on math. Because of this, I might be a weaker applicant (less math courses), but I did skip into some graduate ones so hopefully that helps?

Undergrad Institution: (Biggest public uni in my country)
Major(s):Pure Mathematics
Minor(s):N/A
GPA:3,36
Type of Student: (International Male from Colombia)

Graduate Institution: (Biggest public uni in Mexico)
Master Degree in Pure Math
GPA:3,85

GRE Revised General Test:
Q: 159 (70%)
V: 153 (60%)
W: 3.0 (15%) This is gonna be bad
GRE Subject Test in Mathematics:
M: 780 (75%) :?

I've seen most people here usually score better in the quantitative reasoning part of the general GRE than in the mGRE, I wonder whether this will be detrimental in my applications.

Program Applying: Pure Math PhD

Research Experience: When I was an undergraduate a professor and I tried to prove some fact in model theory but we couldn't get anywhere after a couple of months. In my master thesis I gave a nice(but trivial I think) proof of a theorem in hyperbolic geometry which is useful in low-dimensional topology.
Awards/Honors/Recognitions: Won a general knowledge contest about all contents of my career as an undergraduate.
Any Miscellaneous Points that Might Help:???
Any Other Info That Shows Up On Your App and Might Matter: I have a 6k account in math.stackexchange, most of the score(>70%) comes from answers I've given, mostly in pure math.

Applying to:

Undergrad Institution: Midwest Regional Public School
Major(s): MATH
Minor(s): None
GPA: 4.0/4.0
Type of Student: DWM

GRE Revised General Test:
Q: 170 (96%)
V: 161 (88%)
W: 6.0 (99%)

GRE Subject Test in Mathematics:
M: 580 (33%, went in cold in Sept., didn't study at all, just wanted a trial run in the environment to prep for the more serious October exam)
M: 750 (69%, nice)

Program Applying: PhD (Number Theory)

Research Experience: Good REU in Number Theory. 8 weeks. I'm told the math we were doing was really original and exciting, but I dunno man, I'm no expert. Did a talk at MathFest, talk at JMM 2020 scheduled, paper in process, and a poster presentation at my home institution. Poster session at JMM will be happening as well.

Awards/Honors/Recognitions: Standard stuff. Don't care for math competitions so I never bothered with that.

Pertinent Activities or Jobs: Started working as a tutor in the math departments tutoring center this past semester just about every day, ~20 hrs./week. Also worked with a prof on writing a question bank for Calc II and DifEq courses. Aaand I dunno I worked as a science SI for a year.

Any Miscellaneous Points that Might Help: Will have two really strong recommendation letters from (1) a prof from my school who I've taken about a million courses from and am currently doing an independent study in algebraic number theory with and (2) from my program director from the REU I did. My third letter writer will be another prof who I will be doing an independent study with in commutative algebra next semester. Know her fairly well.

Any Other Info That Shows Up On Your App and Might Matter: meh

Applying to Where:
University of Michigan - Top choice. I love Ann Arbor so much, it would be a dream to get to study there
Michigan State University
Purdue University
Dartmouth University

TOEFL Score: (xx = Rxx/Lxx/Sxx/Wxx) (if applicable)

Program Applying: Pure Math - Graph Theory, Algebraic Combinatorics

Any Miscellaneous Points that Might Help: N/A.
Any Other Info That Shows Up On Your App and Might Matter: 4 really strong letters, hopefully. One of them is a fields medalist. Lots of graduate courses, have not gotten grade other than A for math courses, but that is probably nothing to brag about.

This forum has helped me a lot on deciding where to apply to so it is only fair if I contribute. My match schools feels like reach schools and my safety schools feels like match schools. I have a weird feeling I am going to get rejected by all schools but what the heck, time to empty my wallet.

GPA: 4.0
Type of Student: Domestic

GRE Subject Test in Mathematics:

Figuring out the safety schools is the hardest part for me... If anyone has any suggestions for really large schools in the top 25-40 range, that have a lot of algebraists/geometers/topologists, would love to hear it. Applying mainly to large schools because I don't yet know what I want to research.

Undergrad Institution: Very Small Open Enrollment American University (I had self-esteem issues when I was younger and thought nobody else would want me. Haha.)
Major(s): Mathematics
Minor(s): Unofficial Philosophy Minor (School doesn't offer it, but I have enough credits for it to count if it did.)
GPA: 4.0/4.0
Type of Student: Domestic, White, Female, Lesbian (And soon to be engaged! :D )

GRE Revised General Test: (YIKES!)
Q: 163 (82%)

GRE Subject Test in Mathematics:
M: TBD (TBD%) (Expecting a very low score. Was not feeling well.)

Program Applying: Pure Math, specifically Number Theory, Algebra, and Logic

Pertinent Activities or Jobs: TRiO Mathematics Tutor, Math Club President, AWM Student Chapter President
Any Miscellaneous Points that Might Help: Female, LGBT+, Association for Women in Mathematics Member
Any Other Info That Shows Up On Your App and Might Matter: I have a W in a class titled "Careers in Mathematics". I also used to go to a community college and I skipped Calculus I and am replacing it with Intro to Complex Analysis.

Applying to Where:

THE DREAM SCHOOLS
Brown University
Bryn Mawr College
Oregon State University
University of Oregon
University of Notre Dame
Brandeis University

GOOD SCHOOLS

University of Massachusetts

ALRIGHT, I GUESS
University of Nevada Las Vegas
University of Rhode Island

LAST RESORT
University of Kansas
University of Louisiana at Lafayette (I have connections.)
Utah State University

I would absolutely love more recommendations for schools. Also, would like feedback on my current school list. I am worried I won't get into any of these schools, so it would really help to know if there are any good "safety schools" for a student like me?

GRE Revised General Test:
Q: 169 (95%)
V: 163 (92%)
W: 5.0 (93%)
GRE Subject Test in Mathematics:
M: sept. '19 (30%) :?
M: oct. '19 (42%) was hoping for much better...

Program Applying: Ph.D. Pure Mathematics, interested in Algebra/Number Theory

My interest field is PDE, numerical analysis, particularly numerical solution of pde and dynamic system, since i have backgroud in CS, so computational math track could be a choice.
I wish i can get some advice for a program list (matching schools), thanks!

Honestly, i am not sure if this list fits best, as i did not investigate much safety options and my previous application indicates this whole process is filled with uncertainty anyway;

How do you guys think of this list? is this realistic? do you guys have other ideal programs? appreciate it!
