Hey guys,
I'm a current junior at a small liberal arts college and I'm trying to decide where to think about applying for PhDs next year.
I know that some schools are really strong in certain areas (ex. Nebraska for Algebra) but I do not know alot about good programs for Combinatorics and discrete math. There aren't many faculty at my school interestedin the field so I do not know how to find out programs reputations.
Can anyone tell me what the best programs in this field are?
Thanks in advance!

It depends on what kind of combinatorics you are interested in. For algebraic combinatorics, Michigan and Minnesota are arguably the best two programs. MIT, Harvard, Berkeley, UCLA, UIUC, UCSD, UWashington, Rutgers and UNC are all great schools with renowned faculties working in this area(though not as many as Michigan and Minnesota). For more graph theory/extreamal type combinatorics, Princeton, UCSD, UIUC, Georgia Tech and Memphis are all great choices. I don't know much about optimization kind of stuff but I've heard some good things about UWashington and CMU.
