Shanghai world rankings vs US News
Which of these ranking systems do you feel to be more accurate? There are some schools on the lists that have wildly different positions.

It might be easiest to just take the average of both ratings to form an opinion.

None. Both of their methods are sketchy and biased, not indicative at all of the relative 'quality' of each department (if such a thing can be measured). But you shouldn't decide where to go based on top lists, these only exist to inflate your ego, and a couple of years into grad school literally nobody cares what # your department's at in US news. It won't do you any good being in Princeton if you can't produce any nontrivial research during your time there.
