NYU has been very quiet. I think they haven't even read the application, as I check the view of my video statement. They haven't watched it yet.
Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
One person on gradcafe received an invitation to an interview for the applied math program at Harvard SEAS

Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
Just got rejected from Penn State. Best of luck to everyone who got in, and if you haven't heard anything yet it might be good I guess!

Did anyone receive an unoffical letter from Davis? Some post on gradcafe claim so and I hope to verify.

Hey weird question but is GradCafe down for anyone else?
Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
Last working day of January. There were plenty of offers on the 30th and 31st of Jan in previous cycles. Should we get our hopes high?

I feel like a lot of departments are taking longer with admissions/being slower at releasing acceptances due to the ~times~ that we are in. I wouldn’t have the highest hopes for tomorrow, but in this process we all have to stay optimistic.
And there’s no harm in having a self care day tomorrow regardless of what happens!

In a few application portal, it says submitted instead of under review ( UC Davis , Johns Hopkins app math , and CMU )
Does anyone have any idea regarding this?

Does Maryland still send out the 3 additional questions to answer after submitting the application? The last mention I see of it in this forum is in 2015. Have they stopped sending it out since?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
I applied last year and got no such questions, nor did my friends.phdapplicant100 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 8:10 amDoes Maryland still send out the 3 additional questions to answer after submitting the application? Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
I saw that UW and Northwestern has released Applied Math results (GradCafe). I wonder if we can expect pure math results soon? Probably today?
Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
For anyone applying to UT Austin - I noticed that my application portal status changed to "Your file has been forwarded to the Graduate Committee for review." from simply just saying "Your file for admission is in review".
Does anyone know anything about this?

Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
Yes I submitted my application in late November and it took them two weeks to change my status to "Your file has been forwarded to the Graduate Committee for review." I guess that just means the grad school has received all the materials and handed the application to the department.PajamaSam wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 1:35 pmFor anyone applying to UT Austin - I noticed that my application portal status changed to "Your file has been forwarded to the Graduate Committee for review." from simply just saying "Your file for admission is in review".

Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
I applied to CMU and my portal says submitted. Most other portals to schools I applied to say the same thing, I don't think it is a problem.AnatolyBabakov wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 2:08 pmreal sorry for spamming but those of you who have applied to either of these schools. Can you kindly check and let me know what it says on the portal !AnatolyBabakov wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 5:33 amIn a few application portal, it says submitted instead of under review ( UC Davis , Johns Hopkins app math , and CMU )

Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
Not necessarily. Last year UW released applied math results in January and didn't release any pure results until late Feb and early March. So I do not expect them soon.
Georgia Tech
Has anyone heard anything from Georgia Tech? From what I have seen they usually send out first round close the January 15, but I haven't seen anything yet.
Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
UW watched my application video a few days ago. I submitted my app (for pure math) on Nov.30.
Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
I applied to UC Davis and received an unofficial offer, but my portal hasn't changed at all. It says "your application for Mathematics has been submitted".AnatolyBabakov wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 2:08 pmreal sorry for spamming but those of you who have applied to either of these schools. Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
I received an email saying that "the committee has put me near top of the shortlist" without offering admission. I wonder what is this supposed to mean? Does it mean I am waitlisted or can I consider this as an unofficial offer?
Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
I guess it's an offer. Even it's a waitlist I think you still have every chance to get in. Congrats! May I ask which school?
Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
Just got my rejection from Berkeley via email (I am an international).
Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
So many new results from Berkeley have been posted on Gradcafe. I can only see some domestic people getting acceptance. Any international here get offer from there?
Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
I got scared after my rejection from UC Berkeley. The rejection email stated that they had so many applications for this year, 800 applicants for a class size of 30. I guess they usually had 490 applicants for a class size of 41. Will this tragedy reoccur for other universities. I really hope to get into Texas at Austin. How competitive is it compared to UC Berkeley?
Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
Did Harvard send out all their offers? I’m worried I didn’t get in... people are saying 700 applicants for 5 spots? Is this true?

Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
Don't worry! I think it won't be quite as hectic for other universities. Because there was no mGRE this year, this encouraged many more people to apply to more competitive universities than otherwise, since the mGRE was the unfortunate determinant of eligibility to apply to many of those sorts of places. I feel like the top 10 schools were overwhelmed with applications this year, but other schools have much more reasonable numbers of applicants.crystal_math wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 5:15 pmYeah this is scary!Ahmadreza wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 4:45 pmI got scared after my rejection from UC Berkeley.
