NYU has been very quiet. I think they haven't even read the application, as I check the view of my video statement. They haven't watched it yet.

Yeah, just today, earlier in the afternoon. It was in an email, I didn't have to check the portal or anything.

Last working day of January. There were plenty of offers on the 30th and 31st of Jan in previous cycles. Should we get our hopes high?

I feel like a lot of departments are taking longer with admissions/being slower at releasing acceptances due to the ~times~ that we are in. I wouldn’t have the highest hopes for tomorrow, but in this process we all have to stay optimistic.

And there’s no harm in having a self care day tomorrow regardless of what happens!

I saw that UW and Northwestern has released Applied Math results (GradCafe). I wonder if we can expect pure math results soon? Probably today?

For anyone applying to UT Austin - I noticed that my application portal status changed to "Your file has been forwarded to the Graduate Committee for review." from simply just saying "Your file for admission is in review".

Does anyone know anything about this?

Yes I submitted my application in late November and it took them two weeks to change my status to "Your file has been forwarded to the Graduate Committee for review." I guess that just means the grad school has received all the materials and handed the application to the department.

I applied to CMU and my portal says submitted. Most other portals to schools I applied to say the same thing, I don't think it is a problem.

Not necessarily. Last year UW released applied math results in January and didn't release any pure results until late Feb and early March. So I do not expect them soon.

I applied to UC Davis and received an unofficial offer, but my portal hasn't changed at all. It says "your application for Mathematics has been submitted".

I guess they usually had 490 applicants for a class size of 41. Will this tragedy reoccur for other universities. I really hope to get into Texas at Austin. How competitive is it compared to UC Berkeley?

Yeah this is scary!

Don't worry! I think it won't be quite as hectic for other universities. Because there was no mGRE this year, this encouraged many more people to apply to more competitive universities than otherwise, since the mGRE was the unfortunate determinant of eligibility to apply to many of those sorts of places. I feel like the top 10 schools were overwhelmed with applications this year, but other schools have much more reasonable numbers of applicants.
