I just know Toronto will release decisions of master's applicants in March and April.

A prospective student is anyone who is considering attending a specific college or university. They don't even have to be an applicant. Technically speaking, "prospective students" are basically "window shoppers." However, in my mind, I usually see "prospective student" and "applicant" as being interchangeable. In other words, if you received an email and they're calling you a prospective student, that doesn't necessarily mean you were given an offer.

Great question, I don't know. I think it's safe to suspect there will be more interview requests, though, but I don't know for sure.

those are possibly the ones who applied for Self graduate fellowship ( 31st December deadline ). But the deadline for all the other students was the 31st of January so I am assuming some offers will be made for those who don't qualify for the SGF as well.

Thanks for this information. Do you know, if there were a bunch of rejections sent out earlier for Chicago (anytime from mid Jan to mid Feb)? I don't trust GradCafe and just wanted to know if anyone has received a UChicago rejection as of yet.

Anyone knows what's up with UCLA and NYU? They made a bunch of offers already. UCLA made its fair share I guess, so a rejection/ waitlist is more likely. But what about NYU? They made offers sometime ago and only gave 2 weeks time to students to accept/ reject (Someone posted about this here)

That’s strange. This cycle might cause a greater delay for Toronto. We’ll probably have to wait till March end.

Fwiw, Toronto has been awfully quiet on the domestic side as well. I think they mean to release the majority of decisions in March from what I have heard. I guess we'll see.

I think NYU is done with first wave of offers. I got it and was invited to the Open House already. But waitlists are possible as I didn't see anyone waitlisted by NYU on gradcafe or here.

I'm not sure I completely understand your question, but from what I can gather: no there's not acceptance or increased acceptance probability implied if you receive an invitation to a virtual visit of the uni, a Q&A event, etc. Pretty much the only two things that are definitive indicators of your chance at being accepted are interviews and official/unofficial acceptance emails.

That's not true, they give until April 15th to accept just like everywhere else.

Nice! My alma mater. Not a huge research scene in math there but the dept is filled with some of the most down-to-earth and accomplished professors I've ever met (I transferred). You can tell they truly love it there and many of them are really passionate about teaching, which you can't take for granted. Huge graduate student body as well, lots of events for grad students. Only negative is the housing situation is really really bad. GL, hope you get in!

Ok, NYU update: they said that they made almost all decisions and don’t plan on many more offers. FYI - >600 applications, don’t know much more.

That was just what my letter said (twice). I was surprised too. I have no more information. Probably they will allow an extension if needed.

From what I know, Brown has already made their decisions. You could definitely ask DGS for an update on your application. But in my opinion, if you haven't heard anything by now, your application probably has already been denied and the system is generating a generic rejection letter.

I can verify this because I got their letter as well. But I think the OP is asking about the applied program at Penn and we are talking about pure math.
