Does anyone poke USC, RICE and Minnesota????? Also, is UT Austin done sending offers?

Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
I just got rejected from CMU and I'm definitely not logic/ACO! So you at least still have a chance, though I guess they could be sending stuff in batches. Best of luck!

I was admitted today. It seems they have very few spots.

Hey guys, update-ish on UMich: they alerted me that they're still reviewing some more applicants now and that more information is to come soon. Their main priority is not admitting too many people with the same research areas to minimize the chance that they don't find an advisor upon arrival.

Northwestern - Pending
USC - Waitlisted on 2nd March, if you got accepted and don't plan to go please do decline!
University of Notre Dame - Invited to interview on 12th Feb with department chair, felt it went very well, still waiting for a response as of now...
Dartmouth - Rejected on 26th Feb
UC Davis - Pending
University of Houston - Admitted on 26th Feb (emailed by Graduate Director saying I have been accepted with TA support and to expect an official letter with details in the coming week)
Arizona State University - Admitted on 28th Dec but no funding received so pretty much a soft rejection
George Washington University - Admitted on 20th Feb with fellowship and stipend coming out to around $25k
So far I'm quite happy. I really like University of Houston's program and location, so more than happy to be admitted with funding. Just waiting on 4 other schools as of now.

Thanks for this information. So does that mean that they will review more applications post the interviews, or will more interviews be sent out? Either ways, it's good to know that we still have a shot there!nilnil wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 11:05 pmHey guys, update-ish on UMich: they alerted me that they're still reviewing some more applicants now and that more information is to come soon. Sure! I'm just waiting for an official letter from UH with TA info (should be coming in a day or two) before I decline GWU's offer. But will definitely do so right after. Hope you get in!
Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
Everyone that they're considering will certainly hear by March 15th -- so I wouldn't be discouraged now at all. I was told I was in the running and should hear something within the next few days (as will other applicants), but I actually withdrew as of a few hours ago because I grew more interested in another school. This is all I know. I wish you the best of luck!Albert_Eisenstein wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 12:05 amThanks for this information. Anyone hear from UC Santa Cruz (Pure mathematics)? It seems that they have sent the first-round offer out, but I did not receive the rejection or waitlisted letter. There is only one report about applied math of UCSC on theGradCafe.

Uh not sure. They didn't give me any indication, just told me "I'm on the waitlist and they will inform me if accepted". Also this was for the Applied Math PhD. If you're applying for Pure Math PhD their waitlist/acceptance rollout may be different?
Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
Did you contact the department about the waitlist? How do you know the waitlist is short?Silvernuts wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 11:17 amI'm in a short waitlist for Notre Dame. This is my dream school please turn your offer down if you are not longer interested in attending, Many Thanks!

Why is Minnesota radio silent about decisions? What is going on?

Just got an email from Michigan State and I was informed that I am on their waitlist. It doesn’t show any ranking or anything

Anyone still waiting for update from UCLA? Saw bunch of people getting rejected last week, but no updates yet on mine. (International, Pure Maths PhD)

I've been anxious and asked about this earlier but I saw a few admissions to SUNY on gradcafe. I wonder if anyone knows they're sending out more?

As far as the Applied Math department goes, I have no information, but for pure math I don’t think any offers have been made yet. I heard that decisions might be made around March 12th for pure math.

That's really strange. Why didn't they send out as many rejections and waitlists? I haven't heard anything from them as of yet, unlike schools like Stanford or Caltech.

Do you guys think this increase in the number of applications this cycle due to waving the GRE requirement?d17gl57 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 26, 2021 1:14 amIt indeed is! For sure. The Math GRE being waived also caused more people to apply to top 15 institutions than usual.Dragan wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 3:16 amDo you guys think this increase in the number of applications this cycle due to waving the GRE requirement?d17gl57 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 26, 2021 1:14 amIt indeed is! Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
Hey, did you specifically heard of March 12th? I have a Canadian offer due March 12th, and I wanted to hear back from SBU before committing, so this worries me very much.iliketopology wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 11:38 pmAs far as the Applied Math department goes, I have no information, but for pure math I don’t think any offers have been made yet. Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
My only info on this is from this forum, so I can't vouch for its accuracy. That being said, the quote was something like "decisions are expected about March 12th," so potentially before then or a few days after. I did hear, however, that they might reach out to gauge current interest before sending out offers, so maybe we'll get an idea of our chances a few days earlier.pietropic wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 4:43 pmHey, did you specifically heard of March 12th? Poked UC Santa Barbara last week. Direct quote from the response e-mail:
"A first round of admission offers has just been made. We expect to continue making additional admissions decisions throughout the next several weeks, possibly through the end of March."
Hang tight fellas, and best of luck!

I was contacted yesterday by Stony Brook. I am in pure math. The email said the committee was very impressed with my application and that they would like to schedule a meeting to talk about the program, confirm my interest, and get a sense of my own interests. I had that meeting today. The DGS answered some questions about the program and told me that final decisions have not been made. The committee will meet again next week to finalize decisions.

Guess I am going to be rejected then. Anyway, thank you so much for sharing this with us.homotopysphere wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 6:56 pmI was contacted yesterday by Stony Brook. I am in pure math. Re: Fall 2021 Sweat Thread
I really wouldn't assume this, and I'm not saying that to be nice either. The impression I got from the DGS is that this process is still ongoing, he didn't say all interviews have been sent out, let alone happened, and the fact is the committee still hasn't decided for sure. So trust me if you can that it's not over. Stony Brook is a dream school for me, and I'm not sure at all that I'll be admitted, despite the interview.pietropic wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 7:42 pmGuess I am going to be rejected then.
