Girlfriend applying

I'm a current graduate student, and my girlfriend is applying to where I go. What are people's impressions about mentioning this to the graduate admissions director? I've heard that, at least in the case of spouses, there's a non-zero probability that special consideration could be given, but I don't want to risk that this sort of request reflects badly on either of us.

I have no concrete evidence or stories to back this up so take my word with a grain of salt. My gut feeling is that maybe as a faculty, I can see this having a nonzero effect on the admissions but as a graduate student, I don't think it could make any difference.

I don't know the case for the pure math Ph.D. program. But for some lab science Ph.D. programs, couples could get into the same school through some negotiating. For example, I know a couple who got admitted into UCLA, one in chemistry and the other in biology several years ago.
