Any acceptances for GaTech REU? If so, what prof?
I poked the DGS and he said Prof. Warnke had not sent out any offers yet (if I remember correctly in your previous post you were applying to his group).
Yea that is who I applied to. He isn’t leaving those who get accept much time to make their decision lol.
On the website it says their decisions will come out before Mar 30 so it is possible that there is still a long way to go... But some other REUs require accepted students to respond before Mar 8.

Update on Cornell: "These deadlines have been slightly extended. We will be reviewing applications slightly beyond the February 27th deadline, and offers will be made shortly after that. We are also taking into consideration the impacts of power outages in parts of the south. We plan to begin extending offers by the week of March 8th."

Anyone know what it means by this? Are they not sending out offers today anymore?

Hmm I also am waiting to hear from Cornell. It's weird that they have March 5th and the week of March 8th both listed to hear back. I'm guessing it means they aren't sending offers today.

Has anyone heard from Rose-Hulman? I saw someone on the reddit thread was officially rejected earlier this week but I haven't heard anything one way or another. I was hoping that meant something good for me but they participate in the common reply date and I still haven't heard, so now I'm not sure.

Hi guys, I wonder if someone can give me some suggestions? This is my first time applying to REUs (I am a sophomore). I applied to:
  • Auburn
  • Baruch Rejected
  • CSUSB
  • Clemson
  • HWS
  • ICERM
  • MSRI-UP
  • Occidental
  • Texas State Accepted
  • UCSB
  • Twin Cities
  • UVa Rejected
  • UChicago Rejected
I got an official rejection email from UChicago; I emailed Baruch and was unofficially rejected; I heard UVa has sent out all acceptence so I reckon I am rejected.

For others, I emailed several of them and CSUSB says their results will come out at least 2 - 6 weeks later. HWS says they cannot give me an update about my admission status right now. No updates from the rest.

I got admitted to the algebra group of the REU at Texas State, which is the subject I am most interested in. But, among the rest, I know there are a few that I would want to go to more. For example, HWS and MSRI-UP. The dateline to accept an offer is very close (March 8th) but I am not hearing anything from them.

If someone who has participated in the REU at Texas State can share some experience, that would be great. I would also appreciate if someone can give me a suggestion about my particular situation. Thank you!

I’m not experienced, but I would advice against asking Texas State for a deadline extension. I was told that it looks really bad and may get your acceptance revoked (not sure how true the second part is).

I also just got in to TX State Algebra! I'm going to email SMALL to see if the Diophantine Equations section is happening (though I kind of doubt it, and odds of getting in would have been low anyway) but I'll probably accept the offer tomorrow night :)

I'm really tempted to email them and ask whether or not they have sent acceptances since the common reply date is Monday. Does anyone think that would be considered inappropriate?

Reading through last year's REU thread, sometimes acceptances can happen on the day of or even afterward, but I'm not sure of this. This is my first time doing this sort of thing.

I sent an email to SMALL. Dr. Goedhart said offers have been sent. I'm not sure whether there's any shortlist or anything similar for Diophantine Equations, but I didn't get that. I feel that it would be pretty hard to get in by now, and I'm not counting on it :( .

Do you know if that group has been finalized? ie. all the offers have been accepted?

UVA NT results were posted on Ken Ono's Facebook. No specific info about the other sections, but they seem to have some sort of moral reservation with sending rejection letters.

I just received an offer (yay!) from a program that needs to be accepted or declined by Wednesday. I want to email the rest of the schools I am waiting to hear from and ask for an update about my application status so I can exhaust all my options before I commit to my offer, but I'm not sure about the etiquette. Should I just mention I have another time-sensitive offer and ask if I could expect to hear back from them by Wednesday? I'm not sure how to word it without sounding like I'm demanding a decision.

Totally! How about you explaining your situation and maybe ask whether they can give you the result of your application if possible? Most programs don’t mind that, to my knowledge (I’ve asked before). Also, congratz!!

At what point is it acceptable to email people and ask about your application status?
I've applied to:

HWS
RIT

Cornell is releasing their decision "on the week of Mar 8", so I'm waiting till the end of the week for them. I think someone on reddit said RIT has already given out offers. Others I'm not sure, you can probably ask now.

Congrats!
Has anybody heard from the Cornell REU on Deep Learning? That was my first choice of their two programs
I also applied to the deep learning REU and haven't heard back. I emailed Dr. Shank yesterday morning asking for an update because I have other offers with response deadlines tomorrow and he never responded.
Sorry I meant Dr. Townsend, I got some programs confused lol.
They just sent me an email with an offer!

I was just accepted to Cornell SPUR! Will be declining. I meant to withdraw from the program earlier but couldn’t do so on Mathprograms.org because the deadline passed, but I will email them.
Congrats! Which program were you accepted for?
