News on Stanford

Post by Albert_Eisenstein » Fri Feb 05, 2021 6:25 am

Hi. I emailed Prof. Vondrak a few days ago about the status of my application at Stanford, and haven’t received a response yet. Did anyone do the same, and get any updates on where Stanford is in the application process? I know that the first bunch of acceptances were sent out, but am unsure if they are still sending out acceptances or not. Thanks!

Can you let us know if you get a response? I'm also wondering if they will still make offers.

Will do for sure! This silence is utterly confusing.

Do you know of somebody being accepted? There are no acceptances yet here or on grad cafe. I was under the assumption that they have not sent out any offers yet.

Yeah. You may not believe me, but I know a guy who got into Harvard, Stanford and MIT. He posted his Stanford acceptance letter. While GradCafe doesn’t show many acceptances, apparently there have been several. Also, I’ve heard that there were a lot of deferrals last year at Stanford, making the no. of seats much lesser. Take this with a pinch of salt. We can only hope for the best.

I am aware of someone who already got into princeton, harvard, stanford and mit and he received his stanford offer in mid/late January.

Thanks for this information! Did you email Vondrak, or a graduate coordinator? Also, do you know by any chance if there are still acceptances to be sent out, or are all of us doomed to be a part of the rejection train? Either ways, I'm quite anxious now!

it's Friday already. Did anyone hear from Stanford? Someone said all decisions would be out by this week.

I was looking forward to getting a stanford rejection this week :D
I doubt they‘ll send decisions on the weekend.

Yeah at this point I think we can make a pretty well educated guess as to what the decision is going to be. The only possible hail mary is a bunch of waitlists being released on the same day as rejections (à la Princeton).

Stanford admitted only plans to admit 10 people this cycle. This is confirmed. I don't know if the offers are all out, but it's all I know.

Same here. Though they did say Early March on the portal, so decisions will probably be sent out in the coming week.

Exactly. Though I fail to understand why they wait so long to send rejections. MIT and Harvard at least finished it by early Feb. Sitting on it for so long makes little sense.

Wait how did you see that through portal? I just checked mine and saw nothing.

Take a look at the Checklist on Stanford's ApplyWeb. They mention that all applicants will hear back by Early March.

There is a news post on GC saying they were accepted via phone call after emailing the faculty last week. Very dubious... but maybe that explains why Stanford has been taking so long? Who knows.
