Reaching out to current grad students

Any advice on this? Do you just cold email from the school's website or ask the DGS for a student to chat with?

What I've been doing is just reaching out directly to the students. Usually there will be a list of current graduate students with a little profile (that has their email address, research interests, etc.). That has worked very well for me this far, almost every student I've reached out to has gotten back, I've even Zoomed with lots of them. I'd say reach out directly, but if you're nervous then, yes, the DGS could certainly help you with this. Good luck!

Yeah, I'm a current PhD student and I don't think they would be weirded out by a cold email at all. You might want to talk to a few different students as people's experiences can vary wildly.
