GRE MATH TIPS

Post by Cwarren95 » Wed Apr 07, 2021 6:05 pm

Hello everyone! My name is Courtney and I have taken the GRE test once already and didn't do well on the math section (scored 148), mainly because my speed was so slow I left about 6 questions blank on each section! I will be taking the test again in about a week and would love to know any tips on how to speed up my average time.

Hi Courtney! The best advice is to just keep practicing!

Thanks. I def plan to. I’m actually trying to source out specific tips on eliminating answers on common types of problems. I’ve not been able to afford special test prep but I’ve heard these types of tips are taught. I’d appreciate anything anyone’s willing to offer or point me to. Thanks

I don't think trying to eliminate answers is that helpful, and usually it should be faster to just solve the problem. I guess in some problems you can do an estimate to eliminate some or do a sanity check after you get your answer. But mainly just figure out how to solve the problem as a whole before doing computations, so when you do computations you can see if things cancel or something.

Are schools requiring it for this coming year?
