for current and prospective graduate students in mathematics

I honestly don't know. But what I know for sure is that the departement is extremely extremely supportive, especially the grad students there. And, the professors are extremely chill, accessible and seem wonderful to work with. It seems like on the research-professor level, there shouldn't be any major hiccups if you choose Tufts. Besides that, I'm in the same boat as you lol.
Some people just want to share how they have done, and where they are going with this community. We are all people celebrating each other and also working to get in. So the posts are not inherently about being helpful, I don't think. Gate's open come on in and all that.
May I know how much funding Notre Dame offers you in the offer?notwelldefined wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 4:24 pmUndergrad Institution: Some east coast liberal arts college that is not known for math.
Major(s): Math
Minor(s): Music
GPA: 3.95/4.00 (Major: 4.00/4.00 up to this point)
Type of Student: International Asian female.
GRE Revised General Test: Did not take, since none of the schools I am applying to require it
Q: xxx (xx%)
V: xxx (xx%)
W: x.x (xx%)
GRE Subject Test in Mathematics: Ditto.

Pertinent Activities or Jobs: Graded a few core undergrad classes.
Any Miscellaneous Points that Might Help: Took some (<=6) graduate classes at a nearby research university including a grad seminar in my intended field, one recommender from my institution and two outside recommenders kinda known for my field, not sure how strong the letters will be.

Applying to Where:
Donations
Harvard rejected (just Harvard being Harvard)
MIT rejected (just MIT being MIT)
UChicago rejected (sad cuz I really wanted to go there)
A bit better but still
Johns Hopkins waitlisted (letter: hoping to take people from the waitlist, contigent on the result of their grant application)
Northwestern admitted (emailed to chat)
Notre Dame admitted w/ fellowship (emailed to chat)
UIUC admitted w/ fellowship (first acceptance!)
Cornell rejected (a bit shocked but ok)
Brown rejected (whatever)
Good luck everybody! We are in this together
Hey! If u happen to know that u are not going to MSU, make sure u don’t forget to withdraw ur application. I was waitlisted there and my interests are also in ANT and arithmetic geometry. Thank u and good luck!Galois7 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 03, 2022 2:24 pmI am offered admission at Purdue, and waitlisted at MSU, Boston University, and U of Arizona.
I am interested in algebraic number theory and arithmetic geometry.
Any insights/suggestions for which of the universities I should wait (considering the faculty), and for how long, will be very helpful for me.
Thanks in advance!
Yes, definitely. As soon as I decide where I want to go (and have an offer from them), I will withdraw all others.josenelson13 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 03, 2022 5:18 pmHey! Hey, sorry to bother you! If you decide not to attend Tufts, could you please kindly decline your offer? I'm on the waitlist for Tufts, and Tufts is really my top and only choice. This will really help students like me a lot. Thank you so much!!!oohlala wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 2:40 pmI honestly don't know. Congratulations! Your application is so strong. BTW, do you have any interviews from these schools? I applied to 12 schools and there are several virtual open days from IU-Bloomington, UIC and etc. There is no 1-to-1 interview with the faculty member so I am not sure if I could find an advisor at admitted schools.mathphd1 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 9:58 pmUndergrad Institution: Large US Public University

Hi sorry for the late response! Yes, I had interviews at Rice and Michigan and was also able to meet professors during open house events at Washington, UT Austin, and UCLA. I'm sure you can ask to schedule a one-on-one meeting with professors at your admitted schools, most people are happy to meet to talk about the program or their research. Hope this helps!Jerry99 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 2:43 pmCongratulations! Your application is so strong. BTW, do you have any interviews from these schools?
