I'm sorry.
Did you find out by asking a professor that you know or was it an official correspondence?

This is incorrect. The correct order should be as follows,

Fortunately I don't think the fit was great anyway! I received an email to check my portal.

You appear to have a strong stats and I'm surprised they did not accept you. Do you mind if I ask you how many math courses you have taken?

You flatter me. I have one of the lowest GPA's on this forum!

Upper division+grad (not all taken at UCLA, all taken after I got my BA):
Abstract Linear Algebra
Abstract Algebra 1
Real Analysis 1
Complex Analysis
Combinatorics and Graph Theory
Mathematical Modeling
Intro to Stochastic Processes
Intro Real Analysis 1 (grad)
Intro Real Analysis 2 (grad)
Intro Topology 1 (grad)
Manifolds 1 (grad)

wonder if it's not enough...

I took this is 2018 and scored high but will not bother paying ETS any more money to send scores
GRE Subject Test in Mathematics:
Not taking due to COVID

TOEFL Score: N/A

Program Applying: Pure math with some physics PhDs. I'm trying to do mathematical string theory research

Research Experience: No original research, although I learning about cluster algebra for 2 years to try to do research and am now writing a master's thesis on mirror symmetry

Pertinent Activities or Jobs: Did tutoring for a year, and have been a grad TA for 1.5 years. AWM officer
Any Miscellaneous Points that Might Help: I'm in my third year of graduate courses. I've done 15 graduate courses so I won't bother listing all of them but I've focused on algebra and topology. I've also passed some PhD quals so there's no doubt I'm academically prepared for a PhD program in math. I wish I could write about the rest of my life because I do perhaps too many things, but schools are mainly interested in mathematics research potential. UChicago - Physics
UC Berkeley - Mathematics
UMichigan - Mathematics
Current University - Mathematics, guaranteed admission and funding for 3 more years

Wish me luck. This'll be my third time applying to graduate programs and hopefully this time I get into somewhere I want

Undergrad Institution: Ivy
Major: Math
GPA: 4.02/4.3
Type of Student: Domestic Female

Program Applying: Pure Math (mainly for alg top and related fields)

Research Experience: One REU (no publication, just a final report); reading projects for the past 2.5 years (talks/presentations and expository stuff) with a grad student
Awards/Honors/Recognitions: Nothing special (Dean's list, national merit...)
Pertinent Activities or Jobs: Have been a TA or tutor since freshman year (sometimes both at same time)
Any Miscellaneous Points that Might Help: I'm female. I think my recommendations are pretty solid and were written by fairly well-known people. I really love teaching and wrote about it in my SOP.
Any Other Info That Shows Up On Your App and Might Matter: NSF GRFP applicant. Will probably take 9-10 grad classes by graduation (including non-core classes, e.g. homological algebra, homotopy theory, etc.)

Applying to Where: (Ordered first by deadline, then alphabetically.)
Princeton - Rejected! 2/4
UChicago - Accepted! 1/5
Stanford - Waitlisted! 2/18
Ohio State - Accepted! 1/2
Berkeley - Rejected! 2/4

NSF GRFP

Notes: If the list above seems a bit unbalanced (w.r.t. "reach" vs "less reach" and so on), it’s because I decided not to apply to some places after getting into OSU, and withdrew from some others after UChicago. One of my professors warned me that some “very bright students" of hers applied to 20 schools last year and got rejected from all of them, and she didn’t know if this year would be as brutal. Thank goodness it seems not to be! Also, I’ve lurked this forum obsessively for the past several years, and it lowered my confidence a lot (of course, it’s only my fault for continuing to look at it). I spent days convincing myself that the acceptance letter from UChicago wasn’t a scam. It still feels like a dream, or maybe it's just a fluke. Don't be like me!

I found this pretty nifty chart that looks at average decision timelines for certain schools. The data isn't particularly recent and looks a bit iffy, but it's already helped me calm down about not hearing back anywhere yet. Come end of February and that'll be a different story :?

Not the person you were replying to, but I just got in, and my interest is pure math. And I have no idea; I think they don't really tell people these things. In the acceptance letter they say their virtual Open House is on 3/8, so there's certainly still time for more offers to be sent.

What is your interest, pure math or applied math?
Do they send all of the first batch of offers?
Not the person you were replying to, but I just got in, and my interest is pure math. And I have no idea; I think they don't really tell people these things. In the acceptance letter they say their virtual Open House is on 3/8, so there's certainly still time for more offers to be sent.
Thanks for your reply. Hope there still some slots.
If you look on Gradcafe, in 2021, UCLA sent out offers on 1/21 (2 offers), 1/26 (3), 1/29 (1), 2/4 (1), 2/6 (2), so I believe today's offer is comparable to the offers sent on 1/21/2021, there is still hope.
The rejection letters comes latter on 2/6 and 2/26.

I hope that's true . . .

Program Applying: Applied Math (Math Otherwise)

Research Experience: A year in my graduate program working on differential equations on Fractals. This coming semester will continue work on this as well as another project in data science. This coming summer will be doing research at MITs LLs
Awards/Honors/Recognitions: Standard dean's list stuff, also scholarship for my master's
Pertinent Activities or Jobs: Tutor for Real Analysis, Intro Proof, Linear Algebra. TAd for a Statistics Course, and Graded for a Couple Others
Any Miscellaneous Points that Might Help: I've taken 27 Upper Division Math Courses and CS Courses (10 of these being graduate courses) over the past 2.5 years (did a gap at my state university). Only got one A-, the rest are As and A+s. Did this while concurrently doing research and being relatively involved with the math department. Making up for lost time cause I definitely spent too much time partying and doing nonmath extracurricular while I was "finding myself" in undergrad. I have strong letters of rec from well-connected faculty. Also, I applied for PhD programs 2 years ago when I thought all you needed was a grad course in algebra, topology, and some analysis. Got accepted into a master's program when they wouldn't let me in for a PhD. Talked about how I used that humbling experience as an indicator of where my weaknesses lied, and how it motivated me to address these weaknesses in my SOP.
Any Other Info That Shows Up On Your App and Might Matter: It's never too late to go for a PhD. I started studying math more seriously after my senior year, and I'm hoping that this older age will have them see me as a more serious candidate.

Did your application status ever change from “Being Processed”? My checklist says they haven’t verified my transcript even though they asked me for my fall grades and then said that they successfully uploaded my updated transcript to my application…

Can anyone see the confirmation that their official TOEFL score is received by McGill in their application portal? My score was processed on 10th Jan 2022 according to ETS account but I cannot see anything on the portal. I mailed them 3 days ago but didn't get any reply.

I applied to McGill and sent IELTS score (in nov) and the score is received. But I sent GRE subject test score and they told me they cannot receive it.

My status is "Being Processed" now. And in the bottom of the application website, it said "Application is submitted and is currently under review". My checklist also says they haven’t verified my transcript

Ohh okay. Any chances you remember after how many days approximately it showed in the portal after you ordered? And does it show on applicant checklist page only or somewhere else?
