Whether to give subject GRE or not?

I am very much confused whether to give the subject GRE or not. I am planning to apply for UIUC, Rutgers, Ohio state, Rochester, South Carolina and Kansas state. Most of them mention subject GRE as optional. I am very unsure of how much weightage the subject GRE has during the selection process. What about general GRE?

PS: I am international student.

When I was talking to a prof at Rutgers he told me that if the gre/subject gre is optional then I shouldn't take it since it is a waste of money.

If you can still take it, i would recommend it because you are an international student.
Btw may I know in which field you are applying?

I don't have to get confused now, since it's already cancelled in my country. People received mails yesterday about cancellation :(.
I am interested in Analytic Number Theory as well Representation theory.
