I am a prospective international student. I had my BSc in 2013 with a CGPA of 4.4/5.0. I have always wanted to be a researcher. I am thinking of applying to a couple of US uni next year. However, I don't know if my application would be deemed competitive as I left school over 7 years ago. What can I do to boost my chances? Will my chance be boosted if I take the GRE Subject Test and do well in it?
Note: I would have loved to take an MSc in my country before applying but:
(1) it would take 2 years to complete the program
(2) the education system in my country is nothing to write home about. During my first degree, lecturers openly told us they didn't really understand what they were teaching and we shouldn't ask questions. I am sorry to say this but it is what it is.
