If they have a waitlist, they have at least 3 pools decided

maybe it takes some time to sort the top of the 1st pool for initial acceptances and the bottom of the 3rd pool for initial rejections, but I can't imagine they take very long for this

I see, I feel like they have not even looked at mine (or they straight up rejected it). Even though, I gave one of my recommenders plenty of warning and reminders, he has not submitted his recommendation to Rice (and a few other schools unfortunately for me) (to be fair, he is the head of the mathematics department at his school, so it makes sense that he is insanely busy).
