It seems no one has heard anything from University of Minnesota. Does anyone know when to expect a first wave of acceptances? The suspense is killing me!

Hey, so I got an unofficial letter of acceptance from University of Virginia on February 11th and then an official one yesterday. I don't know how many other offers they have already made, or if they are going to make any others, but they did say in the email that they have a waitlist. I hope you hear good news soon though!

I emailed them on Feb 10th to ask if I could update my material.They said that the review has finished and they were in decision phase, but I have no idea why there is still no news from them.

How did you find this out though? Did they send you an official email, or did you ask the department?

That’s odd. I can’t tell if they are being really slow, or if they have sent some acceptances that just haven’t been posted.

I asked about my application, and they said I was "high on their list of alternates" (just to give some context for the type of responses you might get), and that they plan on releasing initial offers this week.

I sent an email on 2/28 restating my interest and was told they planned on making decisions in March. I was not told I was waitlisted, rejected, or accepted, and my application is still pending decision.

Did anybody get news? Thanks. This is the best school that hasn't sent me a decision & isn't now a lost cause.

I also emailed UMN and they said the first round of offers was made and that there were many qualified applicants so it's unlikely they'll send out a lot more acceptances. They said to expect a decision by the end of the month

I got the exact reply as well. It sounds to me like a soft rejection. Normally if people are on some sort of waitlist, they would tell you right away.

Just received an email saying there's been update on my application, logged in to the portal and saw the rejection. I did reach out to them one day or two ago, and then got the rejection today.

I've heard nothing except the reply from their graduate Coordinator. They told me the first round of offers have been sent out. They hope to make the rest of the decisions by the end of this month.

A decision on your application has been posted to your applicant status page. Log in to your application account to view your decision.”

UC Irvine did the same thing, but I ended up being rejected from there, so I'm not exactly very hopeful lol. Can I ask if they used the same words "high on the list of alternates"? I want to gauge my chances as accurately as I can.

I got waitlisted too! (with the same message). UMN is my last hope. If they reject me, I shall have no Grad schools left. So, if you have the option of attending other good schools, please decline your offer to help students like me!

Welp, just sent an email asking about when any decision would be made about my app. They said it wouldn’t be until after April 15th (which I didn’t even know they could really do) since they can’t require anyone to accept any offers until then. So for all of us on the waitlist, we’ve still got a ways to go.
