Please decline your offer if you do not want to go

As we all know, the deadline (April 15, 2022) to receive, accept, and decline admission offers is fast approaching. It is a humble request to all those who currently have multiple offers to decline offers from the places they do not want to go. This request may sound obvious, and many might not have made up their mind to date. But with every passing day, especially now when we have just 10 days left, the anxiety of those who are on the waitlists of some of the schools is rapidly intensifying. The more you delay in declining your offers, the lesser are chances of those on the waiting lists actually receiving an offer and/or getting the usual, adequate funding for the program since it has happened earlier that some places have offered a couple of spots lesser than usual they planned to offer in that cycle simply because many people declined their offers very very close to 15th April. For those who are sure of not going to a certain place, it would be very generous of you to decline your admission offer as soon as possible, practically in time that the school concerned can sleep over it and offer it to someone from their waitlist. Your timely rejection of an offer you do not want may literally become a changing point in someone's academic life. Please do consider this request.
PS: This is not a request just due to the anxiety and restlessness of some of us who are waiting to hear from certain places, but it is a practical request because almost all schools also strongly insist that you inform them as soon as you decide to decline your offer - there must be some practical reasoning behind this insistence.
