I'm interested in scientific computing, optimization, and applied deep learning(although this is quite CS). How are these programs? Which ones of them are harder to get in?

If you're okay moving to Canada, you could add Waterloo CO to your list. It has a great program.

I got into Northwestern and UMich AIM and OSU. I would also add UMaryland College Park to your list. I can answer questions about the ones I got into. I ended up choosing Northwestern.
