Addressing Time Away From Academia

So I graduated in 2021 but didnt get in anywhere for PhD programs and I'm wondering if I should address this even though it's only been like a year (almost 2)? Granted, I've been doing a research internship with my thesis advisor since then so my CV wouldn't be blank. I've heard mixed responses on this. Is it necessary to talk about how I didnt go to grad school immediately due to an unsuccessful application season or is it ok to just not mention it since I'm actually doing something?

There is no need to mention your past unsuccessful applications (unless specifically asked about this in an interview). There is no gap on your cv, and since graduating you have been pursuing further research experiences to better prepare yourself for grad school. Good luck!
