Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Has UCI's open house already been held? I got an ambiguous email from them around mid-Feb saying they would have an open house in early March and that they would keep me informed. Does this mean I was invited or not?

Yes, unfortunately they already sent out all invitations to their recruitment day. I confirmed this with the department via email. I was not invited either.pde_manifold wrote: ↑Wed Mar 08, 2023 7:40 pmHas UCI's open house already been held? Did they tell you when they were going to have it?

I’m sorry, friend. I feel your pain — I had the same reaction when I learned that I wasn’t invited.pde_manifold wrote: ↑Wed Mar 08, 2023 8:09 pmOh so I guess what I got was just a generic info letter...thyartismath wrote: ↑Wed Mar 08, 2023 7:45 pmYes, unfortunately they already sent out all invitations to their recruitment day. Unfortunately I never did figure out when the recruitment day actually took (or will take) place. All I received was confirmation that all the invites had been extended.
Some past results on GradCafe suggest that the recruitment day isn’t a guarantee of admission. It is definitely a form of interview they do with what I imagine is their shortlist of applicants.

Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Are there really going to be any more decisions? It seems like most grad schools have gone quiet. The only schools I have seen almost nothing about is UT and UCSD. I'm just beginning to wonder if I should start to decide now.

Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
emailed LSGNT administration, got told of waitlist for interview and that all outcomes should be out by the end of March.
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Most schools have only sent out first round offers and maybe some second round offers. You gotta consider this - the same “top” people got offers in the first round from different schools. However, they can only attend one, which means they have to reject the other offers. Schools are gonna start receiving these rejections soon and send out the offers to other students who didn’t get first round acceptances. So yes, I think there will be a lore more decisions, especially in the coming weeks.physicsofcomica wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2023 6:29 pmAre there really going to be any more decisions? Acceptance from UT Austin in GradCafe came in early April last few years. By the way, does anyone hear from Rice?physicsofcomica wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2023 6:29 pmAre there really going to be any more decisions? It seems like most grad schools have gone quiet. Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Looking at previous years the pattern we're seeing is sorta typical. My guess is you won't see a lot of shifting around until late March and early April when people are rejecting offers; I get this vibe by going off of people who were accepted into Minnesota and Georgia Tech well into April. Even then though, I don't think you should expect this to shift too too much.physicsofcomica wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2023 6:29 pmAre there really going to be any more decisions? Emailed Georgia Tech and got a nonanswer as expected. Zero information on the waitlist.

Has anybody here heard anything from McGill? I got an email from them offering to apply for a joint PhD thing but it didn't seem to indicate admission.

Anyone here back from UCLA yet? I am curious to know if they plan on sending a second round of rejections.

Did anyone get rejections from Applied Mathematics and Statistics PhD program at JHU?
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
When is it ok to send another email asking again about your application? I have a couple of schools that I reached out to a few weeks ago asking about any updates on my application and they essentially said what I assume is waitlist where they were unable to offer a first round admission offer but I was still under consideration for the later ones. Since it's been 2-3 weeks since I sent these original emails, I was wondering if it would be ok or completely rude to email again about any updates. I just feel like time has been passing so quickly and the deadline is coming soon for the decision that I need to have all information I can to make an informed decision.
Any advice would be helpful!

Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Personally, I did what you did, and now I'm just sitting with it. I think that the most information we'll ever get out of them is if we're waitlisted and a ballpark guess on our odds. So I don't think it's worth asking for more info.macmath7 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 3:04 pmWhen is it ok to send another email asking again about your application? Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Anybody who was accepted by WUSTL and won't be attending, please decline. Somehow I haven't seen any acceptances here but they've sent first round offers.
It's a perfect research fit for me and hence my top choice and it would be really helpful. Thanks

Got an odd email from Indiana International Office suggesting that my application has been submitted(??) to the department. Checked my portal and a section for SEVIS has spawned.
Anyone else?

Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
When do universities typically send out a second round of offers (if applicable)? Is it, mostly, the end of March or early April?

Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Has anyone actually been rejected by UIUC? I know acceptances and waitlist offers went out awhile ago, so I'm wondering why they haven't informed us by now...
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
I've been thinking the same for a while now. Haven't seen any rejections yet. The open house happened on Sunday too I guess.
They don't reply to mails either. So annoying

Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Typically now is the time when they send out second round of offers based on last year's results. This year is unusually slow so my best guess is that they'll start sending out second offers probably within the next 1-2 weekshelloworld123 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 1:03 pmWhen do universities typically send out a second round of offers (if applicable)? Has Texas AM sent out a waitlist? I saw on gradcafe one waitlist post but not sure if this is real or not.

It all depends on when the people who got the offers will confirm or decline acceptancehelloworld123 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 1:03 pmWhen do universities typically send out a second round of offers (if applicable)? Is it, mostly, the end of March or early April?

Has anyone heard like anything from Northeastern? I haven’t seen one acceptance, rejection, or waitlist and I tried emailing last week and didn’t even get an email back about anything. It’s strange they would wait until this long to even send out first round offers.

As per this webpage, the Math and Applied Math programs conducted an open house recently, for their new grad students.
Does anyone know whether these programs shall be sending out more acceptances? If so, by when? I had mailed them enquiring about the same, however there hasn't been a reply from them.
Also, does anyone know of any rejections that have been sent out by these programs?

Nope. I applied in early December and haven’t heard anything from them.rrust19 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2023 12:23 amHas anyone heard like anything from Northeastern? Has anyone been accepted to UC San Diego for pure? I’ve only seen rejections here and on gradcafe.

By the way, if you didn't hear anything back, you can email them to ask. You can either email the office, or you can also email the director and/or your interviewer. From my experience, they will reply.

Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
I emailed them a few weeks back and they told me I wasn't on the first list for interviews/offers, but that I could still be considered for future ones. But since I was waitlisted without having been interviewed and there have been people interviewed who have apparently also been waitlisted, I'm not holding out much hope.MGREfcapgsim wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 7:08 pmHow do you know that you are on the waitlist?math.magician wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 1:16 pmare there anyone who were interviewed by umich, waitlisted and now have finally heard back?
