Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
I got an email a few hours ago saying I am "likely to be on our short list once we start making offers, which will start in late February." I'll add that I wasn't invited/didn't hear anything about the graduate student weekend.

Congrats!!!!! I also applied to courant applied math. Still waiting... I guess this is the first offer day for them since I haven't seen anyone else get the offer earlier.

Did you contact them first about this? I haven't received anything from them and am assuming a soft rejection.

Admitted to CU Boulder applied math.
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
No, I was honestly assuming a soft rejection as well because of no interview invite.coolmathgames123 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 8:29 pmDid you contact them first about this? I haven't received anything from them and am assuming a soft rejection.

Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
I was invited to the grad student weekend, and upon following up, was told that the weekend was part of the interview process, with decisions being released in the following weeks. I did not receive any email similar to those mentioned above.Boplicity wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 11:49 pmHas anyone that's been invited to the graduate student weekend received this email?

I think it's not good news for us since Courant made offers on only one day for the past few years according to gradcafe, hope I'm wrong.

Does anyone know about UIUC?
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
This isn't going to be crazy helpful bc I don't want to provide identifying information, and I have no idea if profs from schools look on threads like this. That being said, I have seen my undergrad institution listed here often as a 'match school' and my advisor just told me that they were planning to accept no more than 15 for both math and stats. I think this might indicate that the current applicationd climate is still very much a shit show, and reeling from the pandemic . Best of luck to everyone regardless, but that was some sobering insight :/

Oh no!!! I just saw people posting offer from nyu in mathematics this noon on gradcafe. I hope they are not wrong about the date…
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Rejection from JHU, pure, emailed to check portal with update.

Does anyone know how Lehigh sends out acceptances? I know someone got an email for applied today but I haven’t heard anything for pure yet

I might be wrong, but I believe Brown sent all their offers for pure math and will only send more as people decline.physicsofcomica wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 3:21 pmAny one know about the following schools: NYU, Berkeley, Columbia, Stanford, UT? It seems like they have been radio silent on this form and thegradcafe. Usually though, for example, NYU has released acceptances before now.
Also has MIT, Brown, Caltech, and Michigan released all of their offers/interviews?
Sorry, I know this is a lot of schools, I’m just trying to get a sense of how close are we to finished from hearing back and these are the main ones I care about lol.

Last year, Brown was very early with acceptances/rejections, and they were roughly sent together. I am yet to see a rejection from Brown. Assumed that the acceptances were just early decisions then.
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
The day after Brown sent the acceptances through the portal they sent everyone who got in an email and cc'ed all of us in that email so I don't think they are sending out any more offers other than maybe waitlist oneshilberthotel wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 7:24 pmOMG really??mathappfrombrazil wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 7:15 pmI might be wrong, but I believe Brown sent all their offers for pure math and will only send more as people decline.physicsofcomica wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 3:21 pmAny one know about the following schools: NYU, Berkeley, Columbia, Stanford, UT? Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Has UW Madison really not sent out decisions yet? I found nothing on GradCafe. Seems weird considering their application deadline was early.
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Thank you all! Received the unofficial offer yesterday, official offer today personally. Letter said they take a dozen or so students a year, but I'm unsure if this means acceptances or the actual cohort (guessing the latter though, judging by the number of total PhDs there are listed online)Koala0520 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 2:39 pm

Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
For those waiting on cornell, just rejected (applied track)
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Courant sent out unofficial offers on Tuesday, and the official letter came the day after. Based on the forum and gradcafe I am inclined to believe they sent out offers on the same days. I do not know about wl though.
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
The decisions will probably be out this Friday or next week if you look at past years' dates on Gradcafe.logicalarmchair wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 9:08 pmHas UW Madison really not sent out decisions yet? I found nothing on GradCafe. Seems weird considering their application deadline was early.

I saw some people on GradCafe got rejected by Purdue. Has anyone gotten accepted or waitlisted from them yet?

Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Hello, I just got the invite today, and they told me 2 professors (listed in the email) would interview me. They said the professors would contact me to schedule. So don't worry, it'll happen!faithfullyflat wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 4:27 pmHas anyone actually had an interview with Michigan, or scheduled one? I got an interview invite and responded with availability more than a week ago but haven't heard back yet—I'm starting to get nervous.

I’m in the same boat. Have the waitlists been for pure or applied math?
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Anyone hear from Princeton Program in Applied and Computational Mathematics? I know pure math from Princeton sent out acceptances already, but haven't seen anything for applied math yet?
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
I also got the rejection for pure. I would assume ur on a waitlist if u havent heard anything yet and u applied for purefrakslluvr wrote: ↑Thu Feb 09, 2023 11:16 amI’m in the same boat. Have the waitlists been for pure or applied math?
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Asked graduate coordinator of CMU and was told they already sent out first round offers.
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
I am pretty sure NYU courant has finished sending offers (I didn't get one though). I got offer from brown applied math very early (late Jan), and they send out offers within a week so I think they are almost done. I'm also waiting for MIT and Berkeley... On gradcafe, people got offer from Berkeley on Feb 7th. I wonder if I have already been rejected.physicsofcomica wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 3:21 pmAny one know about the following schools: NYU, Berkeley, Columbia, Stanford, UT? Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Are the MIT results out so far for Pure or Applied?
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Does anyone know how the waitlist works? Take Stanford pure math for example. If someone declines an offer, will the top candidate on the waitlist receive an offer immediately? Or students on the waitlist have to wait until near 4/15 and then receive a final decision?
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
In previous years decisions came out around 2/15-17, so hopefully it'll be next week.
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Hi, everyone! Usually acceptance letters are send out first or rejections? If acceptances are send out first then should I expect rejection when the week in which all decisions are made is upcoming?

To people who got an offer from Northwestern: if you are not considering Northwestern please decline the offer.
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread

Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Just got Purdue offer.
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
It depends on schools, I suggest checking out gradcafe for the schools past decision date patterns.

Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
I've been waitlisted at UMass Amherst, but I was told that my application was very strong(understandable, small cohort).
I really want to go to Amherst. What's the legality/morality of changing offers after April 15?
