To those who were emailed by UIC in the past, I would check your email for updates.

Thankfully, I got an offer for the Ph.D. program; I think they're still making offers so don't let your hopes drop!
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Also just a thought, but the fact that you've received nothing could be good news. I emailed them a while ago and they wouldn't give me any updates. So maybe this means that some consensus has to be made to make an offer? Tbh idk how admissions processes really work, but this is just my impression. Best of luck!

I just got an email from them asking me to apply to their Bridge to Doctoral Program and they allege it has no bearing on the status of our application.
I contacted with UMN and they told me that they are hoping to give all decisions until the end of the February.(waitlisted, rejections etc..)
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
I’m still waiting to hear back from 11/15 of my schools - Cornell, BU, BC, Northeastern, Tufts, Brandeis, Rutgers, Maryland, Syracuse, Albany, and Lehigh. I am starting to get very stressed and upset cause this radio silence is KILLING me. I have already been accepted into 2 schools so I have options but it would be nice to hear from these other places so I could plan visits to any if possible.
I want to email them and ask for updates but i know it’s too early and don’t want to hurt my chances. Any words of encouragement or advice to just help me not explode from stress and frustration?

Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
I could be wrong, but my personal feeling is emailing with an inquiry just asking for an update won't hurt your application as long as you only do it once. I feel like the worst-case scenario is that they ignore your email.rrust19 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 12:05 pmI’m still waiting to hear back from 11/15 of my schools - Cornell, BU, BC, Northeastern, Tufts, Brandeis, Rutgers, Maryland, Syracuse, Albany, and Lehigh. I think it might be better to wait until March/late February to do that. This year is definitely slow but traditionally, March is when second offers are made while February is for first waveHelpmepls wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 1:34 pmI could be wrong, but my personal feeling is emailing with an inquiry just asking for an update won't hurt your application as long as you only do it once. Are you guys comfortable discussing offer amounts on here for different places?

I second this, I think it’ll be a helpful thing to discuss especially considering the state of this economy in The States specifically.FieldsMedalist wrote: ↑Mon Feb 20, 2023 5:30 pmMaybe make a seperate topic about this. Columbia rejection, pure, email to check portal
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
I haven't received anything either. I saw two people posted rejections from them on GradCafe on February 9th. But that's all I've seen.Scathrules wrote: ↑Mon Feb 20, 2023 2:25 pmHas anyone been rejected from Purdue? I still haven't received anything from them

Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Anybody know what's going on with UIUC? Last year they sent out rejections by around 14th Feb too, this year they haven't yet. Any idea if they'll send out more offers?
Also yep, I also know a person (they're not on this forum) who got rejected from Purdue.

Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
I know some people have received offers. They are having a campus visit in early March. If you haven't heard an acceptance or rejection, then you are probably on their waitlist.Scathrules wrote: ↑Mon Feb 20, 2023 2:25 pmHas anyone been rejected from Purdue? Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Rejected from Lancaster - mail says "I have been informed that the department is unable to provide an appropriate supervisor for your area of research".
There are at least 4 Professors in the area I mentioned I want to work in, including one Professor who replied to my mail saying that I should feel free to add his name as a potential supervisor. Could've saved some effort if he would've just told me not to apply.
I think they take somewhat technical interviews for everybody shortlisted so I was basically not considered at all.
Nice.

Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Rejected from Minnesota. I guess it but it hurts
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
I mailed the WashU Director of Graduate Studies to ask my status and he said
"Unfortunately, this year we have very few slots available for our PhD programs. We have sent out our first round of offers and you were not selected among those. We will let you know if anything changes on our end."
I guess it means a waitlist technically right?
But seems unlikely now

Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
Thanks. Not expecting much though. WashU was probably the most important place for me (UIUC and Purdue are overall better schools but by research fit WashU was by far the best) so this is very disappointing.Scathrules wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 1:20 pmPossibly but a fair amount of programs waitlist every non-accepted applicant until like March I hope you get good news tho!veenzaan wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 1:10 pmI mailed the WashU Director of Graduate Studies to ask my status and he said

Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
I got news from Michigan State for those who have applied there. As well I sent an email to Rutgers and got the response that my odds aren't very high, meaning a waitlist must have been made by now.

Assuming for my sanity that it's a rejection
Re: Fall 2023 Sweat Thread
MIT rejection today. Did everyone else's rejection letter say "The decision in your case was reached only after extensive review in a highly competitive process" too?
