Has anyone received an offer from UNC? They said it would come this week and so far they have been releasing info on Tuesdays.
for current and prospective graduate students in mathematics

I attended the Prospective Student Weekend, and I haven't heard anything. However, I think they invited about twice as many pure students as they can fund, so it's possible they've accepted some other people.
curious about this too, have anyone with interview heard back from them?Waittohear wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 2:27 pmI heard today that UMich has sent out some rejection letters. Can anyone confirm?

I’ve seen a lot of rejections in the main thread. Some were in pure
Hi, might I ask how were you (or other people) informed of the waitlist decision? I haven’t heard anything as of now. Maybe could assume incoming rejection.Kaleiss wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 7:04 pmThey have sent out first round offer and waitlist.math.magician wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 6:04 pmcurious about this too, have anyone with interview heard back from them?Waittohear wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 2:27 pmI heard today that UMich has sent out some rejection letters. Also, congrats on your offers!
Could you elaborate on what you mean by "got waitlisted"? Did they send your friend an email directly telling them that they are waitlisted or did your friend reach out to them first? Was this after they were interviewed?Kaleiss wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 10:15 pmThanks!mathappfrombrazil wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 7:59 pmHi, might I ask how were you (or other people) informed of the waitlist decision? I have a friend who is waitlisted by umich. I am not sure if they will have more spots on waitlist.
Howd they let you know?Biset wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 5:48 amRejected from Stony Brook. I am expecting this as well since there are only a few people on the faculty which can work with me.
Is there anyone who is accepted by Virginia? I am planning to send an e-mail to them regarding my application. Is it safe to do that?
They sent me an e-mail that there is an important update on my application. Then I checked the application portal and saw the rejection letter.xbq22 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 8:49 amHowd they let you know?Biset wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 5:48 amRejected from Stony Brook. Damn, sorry to hear that. You could totally email virginia by the way.Biset wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 9:30 amThey sent me an e-mail that there is an important update on my application. Is the same true for cambridge?LetMeIn2401 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 2:58 pmGot an offer from Oxford too. But I think unless you get lucky and get awarded a scholarship (which is pretty difficult for non-UK citizens) you are unlikely to get decent funding.
I also emailed nyu today (courant, applied math track) but they replied that all the info can be accessed online (not the portal but the courant graduate admission website) I was totally confused… they didn’t even tell me when the result is going to come out…Walby6 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 4:19 pmEmailed NYU got this response: Thank you for your email. At this time the fellowship committee is reviewing files and making decisions. Decisions regarding applications should be decided soon. Once the progress is complete you will get an update.
This was for pure.
If you are talking about part III then I am not really sure (I think there is an international scholarship scheme but that just reduces tuition). I feel like Cambridge has more funding than Oxford, but that could be wildly wrong. But for both it is very very difficult to get funding of the same quality you would see at US schools. I know many non-UK citizens who still have to pay hefty tuition even for the DPhil. I think most funded applicants need to get a scholarship like the gates scholarship in order to get a stipend and so on and you cannot really count on being funded through TAing or RAing.xbq22 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 5:06 pmIs the same true for cambridge?LetMeIn2401 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 2:58 pmGot an offer from Oxford too. I got an acceptance from Virginia. It should be safe to ask them about the status of your application. Good luck!Biset wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 5:48 amRejected from Stony Brook. I am expecting this as well since there are only a few people on the faculty which can work with me.

I emailed Toronto a few days ago and they said they already sent out first rounds offers. They hope to send out more by early April.brumer_stark wrote: ↑Sat Mar 04, 2023 10:35 amHas anyone received a second/third round offer or waitlist from UPenn or Rice? I was accepted in January. A friend of mine (international, I'm domestic) hasn't heard anything back as far as I know.
They sent out admits around mid Feb if I remember correctly
If you were at the UPenn open house and didn’t get an answer offer, you’re on the waitlist. I spoke with one of the faculty and they said the second round won’t go out for a while.brumer_stark wrote: ↑Sat Mar 04, 2023 10:35 amHas anyone received a second/third round offer or waitlist from UPenn or Rice? If you were not invited to the open house. You’re most likely not on their shortlist of applicants and they’re most likely not considering your application. That could mean rejection. Do email if you are unsure!brumer_stark wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 3:54 amIf I was not, does that mean I'm rejected?inaicecream wrote: ↑Sun Mar 05, 2023 6:58 pmIf you were at the UPenn open house and didn’t get an answer offer, you’re on the waitlist. Looking at last year's results, it seems that they send rejections in waves so I am not getting my hopes too high lol
Do you have any information more specific than "won't go out for a while"?inaicecream wrote: ↑Sun Mar 05, 2023 6:58 pmIf you were at the UPenn open house and didn’t get an answer offer, you’re on the waitlist. Unfortunately no. Here’s what I received on 2/21 in email when I asked about my chance of getting an offer.madformath wrote: ↑Tue Mar 07, 2023 12:47 pmDo you have any information more specific than "won't go out for a while"?inaicecream wrote: ↑Sun Mar 05, 2023 6:58 pmIf you were at the UPenn open house and didn’t get an answer offer, you’re on the waitlist.
