are there anyone who were interviewed by umich, waitlisted and now have finally heard back?

How do you know that you are on the waitlist?

By the way, if you didn't hear anything back, you can email them to ask. You can either email the office, or you can also email the director and/or your interviewer. From my experience, they will reply.

I emailed them a few weeks back and they told me I wasn't on the first list for interviews/offers, but that I could still be considered for future ones. But since I was waitlisted without having been interviewed and there have been people interviewed who have apparently also been waitlisted, I'm not holding out much hope.

Not yet. Emailed them a while back about where I am on the waitlist and when they’re planning to send more offers and they said they couldn’t tell me anything.

I sent them an email last week. They replied they have sent the first round of offers, and they would send rejects in late March.

Are there really going to be any more decisions? It seems like most grad schools have gone quiet. The only schools I have seen almost nothing about is UT and UCSD. I'm just beginning to wonder if I should start to decide now.

I was notified I was on the shortlist for UT Feb 6, and was formally admitted Feb 27. The in-person open house is tomorrow. I put this in the thread for UT Austin, but since this seems to be a common question I thought I'd put this here too. Hope it's helpful!

I also sent them an e-mail regarding the application status and they gave me the same response.(I asked for an update 4 weeks ago) But my friend received an information that they had some problems on application process. So the reason why we haven't heard anything from them may be related to this. I don't know whether 'admitted' students got an admission e-mail. I believe they have already sent out their first round offers but I am not sure about this as well.

Out of curiosity, do programs look down on people who accept their offer last minute? I've had some people tell me that some programs might get mad that I accept their offer on April 15 even though I'm waiting on other schools. Thoughts on this?

For the record, I already dropped my other schools to help others and I'm just waiting on 2 more schools!

I emailed the DGS and they told me. I wish I knew where I was on the waitlist but I feel like if I weren't somewhat closer to the top then they wouldn't give me a sense of hope.

No to be a bearer of bad tidings, but last year I applied to CMU and never heard anything from them (even to this day). I thought it was rather disrespectful and did not apply this cycle. If you have a contact in the department I would encourage sending an inquiry.

Which alternative masters program did you choose? I chose FinMath, so I guess maybe our application was forwarded to the corresponding master’s program committee.
