I have very good academic records(my GPA is 3.9) but the problem is I don't have any research experience. Also a terrible Subject GRE Score.Still I applied this year and luckily got an acceptance from a school(Top 100) and I will be joining the program. My question is.... is it possible to get a transfer to a better ranked program next year?

I think transferring in this manner is not impossible, but harder than just taking an extra year in your undergrad. I personally would've taken an extra undergrad year if not for monetary reasons.

This is all my understanding though; I've seen the question on stack exchange before cause I asked the same question. If you'd like me to find the post for you, just dm me.

It feels like it may be easier to master out of a program and just apply to PhD programs again instead of transferring, but that isn’t based on anything concrete.

I would provide my experience. Two years ago, I get a undergrad from big state school ~40th which is famous in math. 3.85 GPA and one paper but only accepted to 100th PhD program.

I reapply again this year with one more paper in preparation. Got accepted to top 15th PhD program. I will then quit the PhD program now with a master degree.

YES, you definitely can do things as I did. There are several things that you need to be careful.

What would you say in the PS when you applying to the new PhD program? The admission committe will be curious on why you quit.

How you would manage the relationship between you and professors of the current program? You need to be careful due to the recommendation letters. What if you did not get accepted to any new school after 2 years?

GOOD LUCK!

This ranking based thinking is becoming hysterical in the US. A PhD is more about the advisor than the school. When going for Postdocs for example, you will be able to go to places where your advisor has connections/collaborators. That is, if you're interested in the work of your advisor and feel comfortable working with them, it is stupid to leave just based on an unrigorous list of rankings done by this or that organization.

Tbh, this way of thinking is only found in the US. This is bcz everything is business based here and materialistic. The people always are the victims in such a pro-capitalist society.
