I am new to this forum. I have a question regarding the grade cutoffs mentioned in the various graduate applications portals. For example, UWash Math Dept clearly mentions that "an overall grade-point average of 3.0 (B) in your most recent two years of study". However, many places do not mention it that specifically.

A lot depends on how a 7.4/10 placed you among your peers in undergrad program. Were you in top 10 or 20% of your class with the 7.4, or were you in bottom of class? At some schools in UK, for example, scores of 70-75% can be an "A' grade. Note, I would not attempt to convert it in your application to a 4.0 scale, but if can provide clarification like class rank range, etc that may be helpful.

I would think your higher grades in Master's program would be a help. You will need to better understand how your 7.4 compares to help decide potential schools to apply for.

Also, research experience, presentations or papers, etc would really help your case for PhD program.

Good luck!
