Yes, schools in Europe treat their grad students more like employees with better pay, worklife balance and benefits. But also the admissions process to my understanding is also a bit different. I think most Ph.D programs in Europe requires a masters degree and also an area of student/purposal of research topic and some require you to get an advisor at their school before applying.
