I haven’t heard from northwestern pure math. Someone last week said they’re doing their final review on the 7th, so acceptances will presumably be sometime next week.

Got in touch with the grad program coordinator. They informed me that the adcom has completed the review process, and they are currently making the final decisions. Moreover, they hope to inform all applicants by the end of Feb.

Anyone know how many spots UNC Chapel Hill has for pure math this year? Apparently they have an open house around this time, but I haven’t seen anything on gradcafe

I just looked at my Johns Hopkins portal and there was an "x" mark next to GRE subject score report as though it's required and missing... I wasn't planning on submitting any scores because the webpage said it was optional. However the portal says my application is "submitted," but the accompanying text suggests it isn't "ready for review?" Am I completely screwed here?

I have asked them about this question. They said that GRE sub is not necessary for the application, and if you do not submit it, it will also not influence the result of admission.

Since you have a lot of good offers are you going to decline uc davis and usc soon?

It's February, almost two and a half months until April 15th. Heckling people here and on GradCafe to decline their offers is unreasonable behavior, which likely contributes to others hesitating to share their profile or admissions information. This might be understandable if you were on a waiting list as admissions season is winding down, but you are probably just antsy because you haven't heard back from these places. Deal with it like the rest of us.

This sort of thing, and being able to obfuscate the institution I end up attending, are why I am choosing not to share my profile and other information until I have accepted an offer.

Yes, I did in early January by either uploading it through the portal or emailing the grad admissions team. Sometimes they accepted it and noted it will be reviewed, other times they say it’s only what was submitted by deadline that will be reviewed. You should email either way to check, because it’s quite possibly late as we are in February

This is what they’re referring to. It says the 6th instead of the 7th though. Found it by just searching the thread

There’s a gradcafe post with a supposed Northwestern rejection, can anyone confirm or deny hearing from northwestern?
I wasn’t who posted and I haven’t heard anything either but last year northwestern sent out a round of rejections on the 25 and then on the 29th, but didn’t accept anyone until the 4th of February… so I guess not hearing anything yet is a good sign?
I emailed the guy I was interested in working with and he said that the final round of review will be conducted on Feb 6th, so if you haven't heard anything it could be a good sign.

Just got waitlisted by Minnesota. They said that I am a highly ranked alternate but it is probably just a generic response and how they softly put down people.

Just got an update from the grad director at TAMU. First round of offers were sent out on 25 Jan. Most likely no more offers would be made before April as it depends on how many people have accepted their offers in the first round. And, rejections would be released around the same time as well.

Rejected from Wisconsin-Madison and UIUC.

After my interview yesterday, the graduate program director at Wake Forest said they expect to make first-round offers by the beginning of March.

So I am pretty sure I am effectively waitlisted at Georgia Tech because I received neither an acceptance nor a rejection despite both being sent out—okay to email and ask, or should I wait a few weeks?

Wait so did Vanderbilt start sending out acceptances or not? I received an email yesterday that I am on the "preliminary short list" but I also saw that someone got accepted on Grad Cafe. Does shortlist = waitlist?

Has anyone not heard at all from MIT? I haven't heard about acceptances or rejections, so I'm wondering if I've been waitlisted. In this situation would it be normal to email them, considering most people have heard something?

From the last few years, it looks like GaTech sends acceptances and rejections in three rounds before wait listing. In the previous years, they drag it all the way into March for the final round.

You should only accept when you are completely sure you are going to attend. Otherwise, It might affect those who are on the waitlist.

well ideally you'd confirm at least a bit before, so that people on the waitlist have a chance of getting in. in all likelihood you'll decide where going a few weeks before the deadline.
