Re: 2024 Sweat Thread
Received a rejection email in January. I once saw a thread in reddit where the OPs situation was same as yours. After trying to contact them a couple of times OP received a rejection. So, I would suggest you to directly write an email to them.
Re: 2024 Sweat Thread
I emailed them like two weeks ago but they told me that they were still reviewing materials and hoped to have some updates few days afterwards. However, then they just do not reply any inquiry email about updates from me since then.donbradman wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 7:46 amReceived a rejection email in January. Has anyone else been waitlisted from UIUC? I am having a hard time interpreting this result. We have been invited to a virtual open house which would normally be a strong indicator of likely acceptance. However, they also said that we are on their "long" waitlist. Any thoughts?

I received the same email weeks ago, no update yet.saladsunrank wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 3:58 amHas anyone else been waitlisted from UIUC? I am having a hard time interpreting this result. I have received an answer with totally no change words as you. I want to know if it is a common answer or not.ThrowawayForApplied wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 3:26 pmNot entirely sure but here's the email:z2xz2 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 11:06 amHave they even sent out rejections?ThrowawayForApplied wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 11:03 pmAlso I would like to say, I messaged UCD last week, if you have not gotten an offer or rejection, it means you are waitlisted. They only did first round offers so far. Best of luck to whoever applied
I haven’t seen any.
We are still in the admissions process but have already sent out our 1st round offers. You are currently on our waitlist and you will hear from us as soon as a final decision has been made on your application.

Any one heard from Stony Brook recently? I emailed them last week and they said they expect more offers to come out this week.

Re: 2024 Sweat Thread
I heard someone received the offer today, but I don't know whether there will be more offers coming out. Hope I still have the chance
Re: 2024 Sweat Thread
Has anyone been rejected from Iowa State? I saw a few acceptances on Grad Cafe but no rejections.
Re: 2024 Sweat Thread

U of T never sends rejections until you ask them to. This is not fair though considering the application fee. We should at least deserve to get the decision on time.
Re: 2024 Sweat Thread
I’m still waiting to hear from Irvine too. I’m considering emailing them but I’m nervous it’ll come off as naggingMadMenDoMath wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 10:08 amU of T never sends rejections until you ask them to. Update: nevermind I couldn’t wait. just emailed them.

Re: 2024 Sweat Thread
Anybody hear about the FAFSA stuff slowing everything down this year? Would explain why so many decisions are delayed from when they came out last year. Saw someone say there may even be decisions coming out through June if it doesn't get resolved soon really hope that's an exaggeration.
Re: 2024 Sweat Thread
A professor from Duke sent me this when I asked for status update:
Guess this is an unformal rejection then!We received an unprecedented number of PhD applicants this year that included many exceptionally qualified applicants. We have made our first round of PhD offers and are now awaiting decisions from these applicants. At this stage we think it unlikely that we will be able to make any further offers.
Good luck with your other PhD applications and your future mathematical career!

Most rejection emails end with "We hope you will have a chance to pursue your studies elsewhere, and sincerely wish you the best of luck in your future career". When we receive this from everywhere, that 'elsewhere' becomes 'nowhere', ironically and unfortunately.

What if already did that lol. Third times the charm maybe? I’ve only gotten into my safety so far and after visiting I’m really not hyped about going. I’m headed for 12/13 rejections unless I get of some waitlists. Idk if I’m unlucky or what bc when I email the that rejected me it’s all ‘there was no issue with the strength of your application we just had overwhelmingly many applicants’.ThrowawayForApplied wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 11:41 pmYou'll be fine, either do a Masters first or take a year off, get a decent job and try again the following yearMadMenDoMath wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 7:25 pmMost rejection emails end with "We hope you will have a chance to pursue your studies elsewhere, and sincerely wish you the best of luck in your future career". Exactly! The admission procedure is random. There is no definite touchstone. Those who suffered understand.

Re: 2024 Sweat Thread
I wouldn't lose hope. It does seem like the waitlist is small and additional offers would be made. However, it will likely take until April for other students to decline their offers given the April 15th deadline.mathgirl2487 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2024 1:56 pmwell they made the waitlist sound so exclusive in the email

Re: 2024 Sweat Thread
Has anybody actually been rejected from Rutgers yet or are we all just "waitlisted?" Might email them if nobody's heard anything in a while.
Re: 2024 Sweat Thread
After an email inquiry, I got the unofficial rejection from rutgers.

Ik Caltech has interviewed and is about to accept the people on their shortlist. So it’s probably a reject if you haven’t heard from them. ( we’re in the same boat there mate :’( )ipso_cheeto wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2024 2:39 pmAnyone heard from:
