UWashington for Applied Math
UWashington for Applied Math
Hello everyone! I was recently admitted to the UWashington Applied Math Phd program with a generous stipend. I was wondering how this program compares with other good applied mathematics programs such as UCLA, Cornell, Northwestern, etc. Just for context my main interests are in numerical analysis and machine learning. Thanks in advance!
Re: UWashington for Applied Math
They are very strong in numerical analysis, ML not as strong. I am also applying for applied math uw this round, did they send out offers already?
Re: UWashington for Applied Math
Thanks for the reply! I applied for the early deadline but I think they are doing rolling admissions. Based on what I read most should be out by late January to February.
Re: UWashington for Applied Math
One good thing about the department is it is pretty easy to work with people outside the department. So if there is anyone in CS who is looking for students you could work with them also (and UW CS is very good, including ML). UW is also near to MSR which has sort of gone in on ML recently.
