If you get rejected from a PhD program, do they usually accept you to a master's program if they have one?
Or do they just recommend it, or nothing

if you're offered one afaik it's a basically a denial that makes you feel better, unless the school you're talking about is a Canadian school and/or offers you funding for the masters degree
