I'm a non-traditional student, so I think having the mGRE on my application (even for schools that don't require it) will show that I actually know a thing or two. I was planning on reporting my score if I got at least in the 70th percentile, but some folks on here are disappointed in their 70th percentile score lol.
What percentile do you think is high enough s.t. it'll be favorable for you to include on your application (given all other aspects are average)?
For other non-trad students, would you report a score lower than 70th percentile?

I got 820 and 77%tile, from non math major. I am sure as hell reporting my score to those institutes that have made it optional. We are not just competing with math majors in mgre but those math majors that have their eyes on top schools. Average mgre scores were mentioned in one forum posts.temprando wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 6:29 pmI'm a non-traditional student, so I think having the mGRE on my application (even for schools that don't require it) will show that I actually know a thing or two. A post from 2012 mentions the following:
University of Pennsylvania
Scores on the Advanced Math Subject Test of the GRE should be at least 750, though applicants with somewhat lower scores may be admitted if the rest of their application is sufficiently strong. The average GRE scores of the students who entered our Ph.D. program in the recent past were: Verbal: 597; Quantitative: 789; Advanced Math Subject Test: 820.

Cornell
Most successful applicants score 700 or above on their GRE subject test.

UIUC
There is no minimum GRE score required for admission. In 2012, the median math subject GRE score for entering Ph.D. students was 740.

Georgia Tech
In 2006, average GRE subject score of 795 for entering PhD students.

I suspect that since UPenn has a minimum requirement of 750 it places a fair bit of emphasis on the GRE, hence the high average
Re: Minimum score/percentile to report
as far as I know, there is a higher bar for Asian students. In China, people always tell me that do not submit GRE sub scores less than 90%, or it will harm your application. I have some doubts about this statement, but I plan to submit my score only when it's above 85%. And I plan to attach an essay to accuse this stupid test if I get 85%-90%.

My score in 840 (82 percentile). Just prepared for 2 weeks so couldn't do well. Is this score sendable (for optional case) ?
