GRE general requirement?

Post by wihjenfc » Mon Nov 18, 2024 6:33 pm

I know that most schools don't require or even don't accept GRE general tests (not the subject test). However this morning I checked the UCSD math website and found that they require GRE general. If I remember correctly, they previously said it was optional.

Does anybody know of any other schools that require GRE general? I'm kind of worried that some other schools would also change their policy all of a sudden, so I figured this post would be helpful for everybody.

UCSD is the only school I’ve seen that requires it for sure. CUNY may but I couldn’t tell 100%. The other UC schools besides UCLA and Berkeley may too but I never looked. It was quite surprising to see UCSD require it since they didn’t even update it until October (that’s when I noticed at least).

(I think Emory may require it? But I could also be misremembering completely).

I made a list of programs (top100 in USNEWS, maybe) and their basic requirements (Gre, sub, TOEFL, ...), as far as I know, UCSD, Indiana, UCSB, MSU, ASU, CUNY (in a specific site, https://www.gc.cuny.edu/admissions-aid/ ... quirements), they both require GRE general.
