thoughts on MS possibilities?

Post by nevnick22 » Sun Dec 29, 2024 2:54 pm

I'm looking into MS programs for the 2026 admissions cycle, but since my BA will be in education with a math concentration, I have some significant gaps in my academic background. I've taken a year of introductory real analysis, but no abstract algebra or any class significantly involving complex variables. I intend to self-study those areas in advance of applications and (fingers crossed) hope to do well enough on the GRE subject test to indicate general undergraduate-level competency. in terms of other experiences, I have a semester as a calc tutor but zero research.

assuming that my letters of recommendation are solid and my GPA remains strong (3.9-4.0 range), what tiers of MS programs do you all think I could plausibly get into? my current impression is that, of the ones I am considering, my reach schools would be UW, UIUC, and UIC, while more approachable schools would include wake forest or western washington.

thanks in advance!
