It used to be around 12/29-12/31 for years, but yea last year it was 1/8-1/9. I’m guessing OSU will send out stuff 1/6 this year.

It was Monday last year. Either way, they usually send out decisions in the first two full weeks of January, it seems.

Hopefully they do come out tomorrow. But the decision release date could vary each year. Or (arguably worse), they might first send out acceptances and then send out rejections 9-10 days later.

There are 3 people on GradCafe that got offers it seems. One of them said that their email says official offers come out next week.

Honestly if everyone who receives an offer also gets an "unofficial offer", I don't see any reason not to simply send out only the official one.

But what's the point of sending unofficial offers to only a small portion of the accepted people? Either way, it's confusing.

Also worth noting that last year they accepted a non-zero number of people off of the waitlist in April.

I asked UChicago about the status of my application and they said that there isn't any update and that decisions have not been made yet. I am not sure what to make of the unofficial offers then. Does someone have any update?

Unofficial offers are unofficial. It's true that decisions haven't been made yet, but some people have been flagged to be admitted when decisions are made and have been told so by individual professors. IMO I don't think there's much coping to be done there, though I do think some people will get admitted off the waitlist or admitted without having received an unofficial offer.

UChicago doesn't do interviews. In fact, the majority of pure math PhD programs don't.

Yes I understand that. But for those who interview (like UNC Chapel Hill), do they interview all the ones they are willing to accept? or is it possible that they might just interview some of them and directly send acceptance letter to the rest? In other words, is it possible to not get an interview but still get accepted to UNC Chapel Hill? Thanks!!!

This depends on a lot of factors, the ddl of the programs, recruitment quota, and maybe the level of universities, etc. Based on the information on the website of OSU, I believe that most universities have two rounds of admissions, if they hope to recruit about 10-20 people, and I think that they will release the first round about one month after the ddl. So we can expect a boom of admissions from forums from mid January to the end of February, and then we can expect to inquiry a waiting list. Just a guess, maybe there are different viewpoints.
