Thank you and congrats! It appears to me Berkeley is releasing decisions in multiple waves? I remember seeing someone else's acceptance somewhere a couple of days earlier

I think the acceptance you are referring to is an unofficial acceptance, so I don’t think that is true (though I would love it to be so).iknownothing wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 3:22 amThank you and congrats! Re: 2025 Sweat Thread
I applied for pure maths. The rejections are only for pure but for some reason, there is no update on my portal (I think it's a glitch).Involutive wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 6:10 pmPACM! You too? I was wondering this too, if the rejections here and on GradCafe are only for pure.
sarnak wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 10:39 amDid you apply to PACM or pure maths? (I think they have different timelines)Involutive wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 2:51 pmInteresting. I didn’t receive any email or update in the portal.

Re: 2025 Sweat Thread
In hindsight the increase in minimal grad school stipends kinda forced the low acceptance rates this year.
Re: 2025 Sweat Thread
anyone else here with no acceptances so far? ive heard from 1/17 schools and it was a rejection. Am I cooked? should I start sending emails??
Re: 2025 Sweat Thread
No, it's the first day in February. People can hear back in March for safeties and sometimes get off waitlists in April. Also you still haven't heard back from 16 schools???

Re: 2025 Sweat Thread
I have heard back from 3 and it's all rejections. And honestly it doesn't seem like my safeties will admit me. Seems like a second 9-0 in my life. Even Barcelona doesn't put that many bad performances.
Re: 2025 Sweat Thread
Oxford sends interviews based on research group. Different groups have different DGS so interview invitation will be sent separately.
Also I believe it's rolling.
Algebra already sent some and random system CDT as well.
Re: 2025 Sweat Thread
Do you know about the Geometry group? I don't believe it's rolling. If you compare the Gradcafe results from the previous year, you'll find that almost everybody got interviewed at the end of January. How do you know that algebra and random systems sent out interview invitations?
Re: 2025 Sweat Thread
Sorry I don't know about geometry. My friend got algebra and I got random system, different days but all this week.mathwiz wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 3:47 pmDo you know about the Geometry group? When I started looking at schools my advisor told me to apply to as many schools as I was willing to because usually, the one you pick is the one you're at till you graduate and you want to have as many options as possible. His usual recommendation is 12-20 if you're willing to and can swing it financially.
Re: 2025 Sweat Thread
I applied for 13 programs in Amerian and only got one rej now. I thought they tend to release admissions this time, maybe I'll get rejs when they complete their second rounds.

I believe that falls under the realms of financial mathematics, sadly outside my area of expertise. Re: 2025 Sweat Thread
according to gradcafe, this year's uw cohort is 1/4 the size of the previous year. i would expect something similar at all the schools whose unions won a big raise (including my ug institution, which is internally confirmed to be taking noticeably less students this year)
