Hi,
I was wondering if it is still possible to get above 94 percentile in the (revised) GRE General Quantitative?
I am not sure of how they scale it, but this website (http://testprep.about.com/od/GRE_Scores ... Scores.htm)
claims that 800 (old GRE) is equivalent to 166 (revised) which is equivalent to 94%.
Thanks for help!
Is it still possible to >94% in GRE General Quantitative?
Re: Is it still possible to >94% in GRE General Quantitative?
Yes, it is possible. The numbers you're looking at are because about 6% of the test takers got 800 on the old GRE, so they got the 94th percentile. For the new GRE (at least when I took it, and I assume that this wouldn't change much), a score of 170 was a 99th percentile.
In fact, your question is a little backwards - I don't think it was previously possible to get more than 94th percentile, but it now is.

I scored higher than that on November 22nd. I don't know if anything has changed since then.
A few of other people in this thread scored higher than that too: http://www.mathematicsgre.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=685
