A question about "early" scores

Post by ibr » Wed Feb 11, 2015 8:00 pm

I'll take the GRE Subject on April 18 and, as you all know, I can choose 4 places to submit my scores. My question is: if I choose to submit them now, will I have to submit again when the application process starts (in September, I guess)? Or will it be saved for a future application?

Thanks

I believe that checking this option only sends the score for the exam you are taking and not all previous exams (i.e. not your general GRE scores as well). I would double check this to be sure. Thus, you would still be required to pay the $27 per school to send the general scores but you would not need to resend the subject scores.

My two cents: If that is indeed the case, I would personally not choose this option because if you perform poorly on the MGRE you will have a bad score sent to several schools. If you perform poorly in April you could take the test again in the fall and send the better of the two scores. This is just my opinion so take it or leave it.

Thanks for your answer. You have a good point. I wrote to several universities asking what scores they consider if the applicant submits more than one and I just got two answers: Rutgers said that they consider all the scores, while Michigan said that they consider only the highest. I think I'll send my scores to Michigan, then :)
