How about if I take GRE sub math twice?

Post by dragoonlp » Wed Apr 07, 2010 4:47 pm

As I said before, If I take the sub math in April and get, let's say 80%. Then If I take it again in October and get 90%. How does the university treat those to sources? Will they take 90% or treat it as 85% as average?

By the way, is that too late if I take the GRE math sub in October and want to apply to university by December?

Thank you very much!

I'm sure they don't average the scores; that wouldn't make any sense at all. They will primarily consider your most recent score. Whether seeing an older, lower score will make them think less of you, I don't know (and probably no one else here knows either), but I imagine not.

October is fine. I took it in November and was fine. The only problem is that some schools have due dates obnoxiously early (Dec 15 and earlier), so I had to call in and pay a fee to get my score early to type it into online applications. It's OK if the official score from ETS arrives after the due date.

Thank you very much for your answer!

Btw, do you know when can I know my score after I take the exam? 30 - 45 days?

That information is on the ETS web site; somewhere it tells you for each test date when you can call to get your score and when they send the score report. (But I hate their site, and I'm not going to go hunting for it...)

For me, I took the test Nov 8, and if I remember correctly they said I could call for the score Dec 9, but I was actually able to call and get it a couple days before that. Printed score report arrived a week or 2 later I think.

It seems this test is getting harder each time it is released, we need to work real HARD! Anyway, good luck to all of us!
